I've done the carmat traction before. No matter how slow you go, it shoots the mat right out.

Sometimes you can get out of a slippy spot on an icy and snowy road without putting anything under the tyres, but it's not the easiest. You need to go as slow as possible and if your tyres are in a hole, you can try to get a forwards-backwards swinging motion going. Also if you have regular snowy winters, investing in a separate set of winter tyres to use is a smart move. Just remember to switch to them _before_ the first snowstorm hits.

If you live in an area where it is a possibility to get stranded in the snow, keep a pack of tea candles and matches in the car. A single tea candle can warm up a car so that you don't freeze to death.

Same goes for very hot weather. All the stuff listed is a good idea but add a few gallons of water. Do not EVER travel in a very hot region without water. If you don't need it your car will.

that's actually good to know. I live in Texas where we don't get a lot of snow so I actually don't know a lot about dealing with it. Most people here don't. That's why the whole state shuts down! But now that I know this if I ever need it I am set! The more ya know!!!!

Also keep long burning candles in the car. They are good for heat and light. A couple candles burning can make enough heat to keep you alive.

I love this. All the "natural" meat with no artificial preservatives. Read the label and it has celery extract AKA sodium nitrite. Its a less pure version of the same chemical as your artificial preservative.

I got an undeserved reputation as a technical wizard when a colleague of mine had difficulty arranging her keyboard (not wireless) to her preferred sitting position.
