A month after publishing his last piece of a rat-infested lockdown bathroom, Banksy is back with another painting. This time, however, his artwork is much more wholesome and pays tribute to health care workers that are at the frontlines of battling the Covid-19 pandemic.

Banksy posted the artwork on his Instagram page with the title “Game Changer”, referring to the fact that the boy in the painting has ditched the traditional superheroes (such as Batman and Spiderman) in exchange for a new hero – nurse.

The piece is currently being showcased in Southampton General Hospital on the south coast of England and honors all healthcare workers that are currently battling the Covid-19 pandemic that ravaging the world. The painting will remain on display in the hospital until autumn when it will be auctioned off to raise money for the NHS.

The artwork is the perfect reflection of how most Britons feel toward the country’s National Health Service during the Covid-19 crisis. As of May 7, Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University reports that there are over 200 thousand confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the UK. The virus took over 30,000 lives in the country so far.

This is brilliant, well done banksy. It's way better than pulling the wings off butterflies (like Damien Hirst's Rainbow art)

The artistic style reminds me of Norman Rockwell's. I like it very much. Thank you, Banksy

I think the mesage is clear, children are more likely to see the truth in big situations...out of the mouths of babes and all that.

He is such a versatile artist. Personally, I believe the rumours that he is a persona represented by a collective of artists.

It's always good to teach children appreciation and understanding. A beautiful drawing.

I have always LOVED Banksy. I hope whomever wins the auction gifts it to the hospital. I would love to see Banksy hit a wall with this painting for all to enjoy... Maybe a hospital can donate one of their walls for Banksy to do what he does best...

The hospital would make much more money by LICENSING the image and selling reproductions -- art prints, poster quality, t-shirts, mugs, tote bags, etc. -- than it will realize in an auction. I don't try to force a message on the image. It reinforces my gratitude and admiration of medical workers who are on the frontlines of an unprecedented war, battling an unknown enemy and caring for the injured.
