Everybody was leaving... men and women. Walking together in that direction isn't the issue at hand. The story is about these specific individuals who happened to be on the ball enough to make sure they grabbed the boxes before they left, rather than just evacuating the premises.

Excuse me. When 9/11 happened Mr. Rogers came out and spoke to the ADULTS that were once children who watched him. His adage and his songs and his message were meant for EVERYONE. What are you trying to point out? As adults we shouldn't be comforted or joyful when we see good? I studied this man for a number of years and wrote a college paper on him, I can say with total confidence that he would say his message was for anyone that needed it. With all due respect Phoenix, these people were told to flee for safety from a government building under assault for political reasons. These people, who were likely incredibly scared, saved the political resolution, in defiance of the assault, and, quite possibly, adding to their jeopardy. Please tell me, at what point does what we teach our children, essentially how we hope to mould a decent society, stop applying? Please define the exact day you became ‘an adult’? Awful comment.

I am extremely frustrated that I can’t take a more active role in healthcare right now. Seeing these people do their jobs in stressful conditions, remind me that you can do anything to make a difference. Soothing, healing, or taking action are just some examples of helping.

I’m sure what @Phoenix meant is that we should strive to do more in the world than to look to be soothed. We can have both, but I think in these times and after staying indoors we should relish the chance to take active roles in creating the future we want. @Lea S.: I would love to read a post that you write about Mr. Rogers, and would appreciate the articles or other sources you can share about him.

Whoa @Lea S... take it down an angry notch! We're having a respectful discussion here. Mr. Rogers is a saint. His show was intended for children, with blueprints for adults to help better guide children around sometimes treacherous adult themes. WE are not children that need to be fed a pablum of hopeful messages (unless, of course, you need that to get through your day... which is perfectly fine). As adults, we ought to shed the catchy memes in favor of more meaningful discourse. These people, carrying ballot boxes to safety, are doing their jobs. While it's a refreshing dose of another part of reality, it is but one moment of something much larger and more dangerous. I think (this is, indeed, an opinion) that while this is certainly a "feel-good" story, it is also a distraction from a reality some adults choose to watch from the sidelines. Yes, it's nice to be able to see the good in things. But, also, let's not let these images give us a false sense of relief.
