As Thanksgiving approaches, today's story is about one of the most important and delicious parts of Thanksgiving diner—pies. Liz Joy's pies tell a story like no other.
They tell stories from tales we all know, like Little Red Riding Hood. She does tasteful references to Peter Pan, Ursula, and Ariel, from Disney, and Khaleesi with her dragon from Game Of Thrones. And Liz tells unique narratives of her own, like a girl in a little snow globe, a boy having adventures in the wild, or a fairy sitting on the edge of the moon.
Her other pies are more subtle, and cover seasonal themes like autumn, Christmas, and floral themes. In any case, it's fair to say that her pies are eaten with one's eyes first. And perhaps the narrative draws us in so much, that they look too beautiful to eat...

Liz said to Bored Panda: “I love love love playing with different mediums and materials and liked the idea that pies, by nature, allow you to work with several different layers. Once I started brainstorming design concepts, I also realized they're a unique medium for storytelling. I love the storytelling aspect and usually focus on creating a sense that the viewer is peeking into a unique edible world.
Liz admitted that she's very proud of her work, and told the reason why. "I've created a number of fairy tale and storybook-type art pies that I'm very proud of. My favorites, though, are the designs I bake for my dad, retelling some of his childhood stories."
Liz Joy loves to bake. Her Instagram is a testament to it. She makes anything related to baking: from cookies, to doughnuts, to full-blown cakes, and most relevant to today's story—pies. And she does them with a twist. She recreates fashion items that celebrities wear, lingerie, and other cool stuff in her confectionery. We suggest checking her awesome works out on her Instagram to see for yourselves.
Got a sweet tooth for pies, a little craving for candy for the eye? Bored Panda has got you covered with loads of posts about pies. Here's one about Halloween, which has recently crept by. There's also another one for a person with a more refined taste. And if you love to see the whole process, there are posts about that as well, like these two (I, II) and this one.
My uncle did that twice. Apparently him and his friend's would shoot at hives to see which one could run for the longest.
The detail on these is amazing! And the fact she matches her jewellery and nail varnish to each bake *italian moi noise*
Yeah, I just noticed this myself. Her take on a french manicure was really original.
