What makes her badass is, she was the first EVER woman to win a Nobel Prize, and the ONLY woman (to date) to win TWO nobel prizes

Her daughter also won a nobel prize for discovering artificial radioactivity, both of them died of cancer due to their studies

Marie didn't die of cancer but of aplastic anemia. Of course it was due to radiation exposure as you said.

Except her name is MARIA SKŁODOWSKA. She just happened to marry a Frenchie by the name of Curie. But she kept using her Polish surname. It's a bitter irony that she's remembered as Curie, as many not-overly-educted persons think she was French. By the way, same with Szopen (another Pole you know as Monsieur Chopin) and Kopernik (Copernicus), etc. etc.
