Woman Lists Down Reasons Why She’s Been Called A “Bad Mom” In A Viral Post

When Sia Cooper became pregnant with her first child, she decided to return to blogging and share her motherhood journey and progress with the world. She even quit nursing to become a stay at home mother and dedicate more time to creating content. However, not all mothers and fathers agreed with her parenting choices. Some even went so far as to call Sia a “bad mom.”

In response to them, Sia penned an honest open letter, explaining why she embraced that bad parenting label. Her post has resonated with over 28,000 people, many of whom applauded both Sia’s honesty and her philosophy on raising kids.

“It is very tough being a mom in this day and age,” Sia told Bored Panda. “Social media makes it so easy to be judged and to judge others. I have been judged for using canned goods all the way to me having tattoos – you cannot win with some people.”

She also believes that encountering a person who judges you for your parenting choices with little kids puts you in a difficult situation. There’s no easy way out and one has to listen to their intuition. “It is almost as if you are damned if you respond, damned if you don’t,” Sia said. “You know what is best for your own family so trust your gut and don’t care what anyone else says or thinks.”

Sia has two kids. Greyson, 5, and Everly, 3. She became a personal trainer after many women started asking her for plans. Sia saw a demand that needed to be filled and acquired a specialization in Women’s Fitness and Fitness Nutrition through NASM.

Okay I’m familiar with this woman. She spends all her time commenting on every famous person on Instagram’s posts to build up her followers. She clearly “poses” with her kids in her posts and yes she does seem more concerned with her looks than she does her kids. Please don’t just read about this one post and assume you know she’s a good mom or whatever, I blocked her on Instagram because I got so tired of her thirst for fame. Also working out while pregnant or with kids is probably a good idea, but working out while pregnant and then make daily post about it on social media just make you seem attention seeking. I see right through her.

So other than the fact that she's a good mom and loves her kids, my only other takeaway from this: There are plastic crock pot liners??? Have i been living under a rock?????

There are! They look kinda like mini trash bags that fit inside the crockpot. But be careful because some of the crockpot cookers cannot be used with the liners, they’ll melt.

Being a "politically-correct" anything is like trying to catch smoke with your bare hands. It is not possible. Once you think you have a grasp on what is "good" according to political-correctedness the politics will have changed and you will still not be good. Also, being "PC" is a matter of point of view. There will ALWAYS be someone to tear you down, no matter how good you are. I'm glad you have the confidence to know you are a good mom. Not all parents are able to discern that. As long as the kids are happy, healthy, and loved and there is no abuse, then there reason to think anyone is a bad parent.

Working out in Target doesn't make you a bad parent, but it sure as heck makes you weird! ....which would lead someone to question you as a parent. Some of these behaviors don't make you a "bad" parent, but by the same token, they aren't good for your kids either.

I was once called a bad mom for reading out loud to my kids in the corner of a waiting room while my car got fixed. My four kids were all under the age of five and the woman who yelled at me said her children read quietly to themselves.

1) Get off the internet. Why does anyone other than friends and family know anything about how you raise your kids. This sickness has to stop. 2) Kids should sleep with or near their parents for the first few years of their life. We were evolved to do so, and kids feel bereft, scared, and lonely if you don't do this. It's very, very, very, very unnatural and unhealthy to put a young child in a room all by themselves all night every night and leave them there to wonder where is everyone and who is going to grab them. SO HARMFUL.

Kim Gerry

I had one child co-sleep with me for a yeah the other for around 6 months neither child was damaged because of their sleeping arrangements as babies. When it comes to child rearing every family and child is different. How the heck do you think your viewpoint on what how other families approach sleeping arrangements is the only one that is correct. Perhaps you should stay in your lane and let parents decide what is best for their situation.

I can not say whether this person is a good or a bad mom, I don't know her personally. However I do know there are some times when people hate on others for having attributes they don't, whilst also having the struggles they do. I can't say whether this is one of those situations, but I know that exists.

She probably had to take the nose ring out when the kids were i the "grab-everything" phase, otherwise it probably would've gotten ripped out. I am NOT saying she is a bad mom, she is not, I'm just saying that kids will grab anything shiny during that phase

So, this woman claims that only insecure moms lash out at other moms, so she lashes out at the moms that allegedly called her a bad mom. The irony is not lost on me. And neither the fact that she ONLY bashes moms. Not dads. Not childless people. Seems to me like one of these posts that are mainly about singling out and bullying mothers. Dear Bored Panda, I wish you would stop offering this kind of behaviour a platform! Yours truly, mother-of-three.

She is calling out, not lashing out. She is not getting in a person's face and calling them a bad mom. The fact you are posting this just means that perhaps you got triggered. Maybe feeling guilty for doing things you are doing? This post is not singling out and bullying mothers. The woman this post is about is a mother, how stupid do you have to be to feel attacked, which is what you are acting like. Maybe you have done this same type of judging against another mother, is that why you are lashing out? Are you a Karen?

It's the last photo of this "story" that peeves me. Like so many other women, married or not, they have learned HOW to GET ATTENTION in such stupid, immature ways.. Let's show our HARD tummies to the world, or how little we WEIGH, or more so, KEEP YOUR ABS TO YOURSELVES!!! Who cares and adult LACK of maturity is really sinking the ship of decency in the media, by NOT showing how thin, obese or anything else... proves NOTHING about you! As Christina S below sums it up: We don't give a f---k about your body, mind or kids for that matter... I.M.O. you are quite the narcissist, as other women are, to act like a 14 y.o.

My 'bad mom' used to say, of the idea that 'she just has to' join the PTA: 'Why should I? Your school will be fine w/ or w/out me.' Not that she disliked our public school - she appreciated it, but as she said, they paid property taxes for the schools already, why do parents also 'have to' do the PTA? If parents enjoy the PTA then great, but if it's a source of stress, why bother? All the 'things you just have to do' in suburban parenting culture, the endless multiple extra-curriculars, the PTA, the perfectionism on it all, the attempt to spare the children from any form of disappointment - you only 'have to do them' in your head. Many successful people, from cultures other than US-suburbia, didn't have hyper-involved parents and grew up fine, and probably w/ much more of a sense of independence. The hyper-parenting is one of the causes of the epidemic of Millennial-GenZ-prolonged-immaturity-syndrome.

KEEP IN MIND: there are bad parents, good parents and also good kids and bad kids! Let your kid decide which one to be, and then help them if they pick the wrong path. Don't pamper your kid- let them make the choice, and then fix it if its wrong, instead of holding their hand through life. It makes them much friendlier, appreciative, caring, and smarter!

Lol who cares if she’s seeking attention, if some one wants to post let them post and if you don’t like it then don’t look at it. The biggest problem these days is that people can’t mind there own business. She’s a mom her kids look happy, and healthy. So if you have a problem some one posting positive things then go check your self coz your the one with problems.

Do you know what I see when I see thease pictures? A woman that cooks for her baby’s, takes her baby’s to the park and plays with them, dresses up with them at Halloween, a woman that is confident in her own skin, shows her kids it’s ok to be confident. There’s so many women that hate their bodies and are ashamed. This makes a kid sad that mommy doesn’t feel pretty because in a child’s eyes they see mommy as the one they can look to when they don’t know what to do or how to do, when they are hungry, thirsty, bored, sick they look at mom to fix that. I love my mother and think she’s beautiful and everyone used to tell me I look like my mom she never said that about her self she just always told me I was beautiful and she wasn’t. I always thought my mom was very beautiful and it made me sad that she didn’t think so so it’s a good thing that you’re confident in your own body and you’re not ashamed of it that’s positive energy that’s a good thing to teach your kids. So Ppl are just mean!

There’s a lot of kids out there that don’t have those things so to me if your kids have those things that’s a blessing! Hold your head up because people are RUDE girl!!!!

My only real concern would be her mention of the co-sleeping thing. Sleeping with an infant increases the risk of SIDS by a huge amount. I see by the pictures her kids are older so it's not as big a concern and if she meant that she had her kids in the same room but not the same bed as infants that's entirely different as well but it just doesn't seem worth the risk to me. Although I suppose it's not really up to me.

There are experts who agree with you but also experts who don’t. I have read that parents who do not are not influenced by anything that would lead to heavy sleeping have the opposite effect when it comes to SIDS. Dr.Sears talks about the benefit of co-sleeping and there have been studies indicating that the risk of SIDS in cultures where co-sleeping is mom the norm is lowered. There are also other benefits such as better sleep for both parent and child, a better long term psychological impact and a are physiologically more stable. Co-sleeping leads to less fluctuation in body temp, and heart rate and fewer pauses on breathing. Honestly what works for one child or one family might now work for others. When it comes to co-sleeping there are studies supporting both sides so really it comes down to what a parent feels is best.

I wouldn't say anything about being a "bad mom" or anything bcuz people raise their kids individually, different from fam to fam. I just cat understand this technology thing. Very young kids use a mobile phone or a tablet or these kinds of things. As long as it's for a short period of time, like an hour a day or anything it's fine. But kids should play outside with friends, use sticks as guns (for boys, maybe some girls. Depends.) for example. Kids these days kinda forgot how to play. Anyway.. Even with that fact I wouldn't call u a bad mom bcuz u are still learning yourself.

SO HARMFUL.

Let's show our HARD tummies to the world, or how little we WEIGH, or more so, KEEP YOUR ABS TO YOURSELVES!!! Who cares and adult LACK of maturity is really sinking the ship of decency in the media, by NOT showing how thin, obese or anything else... proves NOTHING about you!

I think as long as your baby’s Have a roof over their head, clothes on their back, shoes on your feet, shown love, shown attention, shown kindness, learning How to deal with live situations, Learning how to be kind to others and take care of their self... your a wonderful mother!
