Babysitter Storms Off After Client Calls Her “Expensive” For Charging While Their Baby Sleeps
Recently, a story from a 22-year-old woman who works as a babysitter for a family went viral on the AITA subreddit. “I get paid 20 dollars an hour, I’m an EMT-Basic and speak Spanish,” she wrote.
The woman explained that the father of the family she works for started complaining how he “hates that I’m there while the baby is napping” and even told her that “you get expensive if you’re here while the baby is napping.”
It felt like a real slap in the face for the author, since she was doing the chores and all the work while the baby slept, and it wasn’t like she was doing nothing. Read on below to see how the story evolved, and be sure to share your thoughts in the comments.

I'm not a nanny, but I did work at a daycare/preschool. Every afternoon after lunch, the children were put down for a nap. They were still being watched while they were sleeping. Sometimes they didn't go to sleep and the toddlers would wake up during nap time and have to be calmed back to sleep. Some of the older kids would talk in their sleep and would have to be calmed as well. The children may have been asleep, but they still needed our 100% attention. This father sounds like there is something wrong with him and if I was the nanny I would certainly not go back to work for him. Just because a child is asleep doesn't mean that they don't need someone to watch them.
Nothing wrong with the father but dollar signs. He should appreciate a good sitter
Load More Replies...If she was making $20/hr last year, she should be making $22/hr this year just to keep up with inflation. That's not even a raise, that's keeping her pay the same. But it sounds like she's moving on anyway.
