In Italy it is full of people whose surname is "Negro" or "Negri". Probably, those ignorant and self-important imbeciles would demand that they change their surname.

First page to get the contemporary definition: Black person, then the etymology: Latin - n***r, black to Portugese and Spanish: negro, black. This is from someone that doesn't have ANY higher learning at all - and I'm NOT saying college is the answer. But how about learning about different cultures, paying attention to who and what is around you and gathering what you can. If I saw this for the first time I would assume these three words meant the same thing. Unfortunately, some people just aren't as intelligent as others and they can't see the connection.
