You are right, Kjorn, but so is Rissie. The difference lies in the wholesomeness of these photos and that women "will think no less of them whatsoever". These firefighters are gorgeous men, but they are not made to pose in sexually explicit ways. Even in advertisements for make-up for women I often see that pseudo-bedroom expression, void of any and all personality, that seems to say "do I look acceptably attractive/sexually inviting now ?", and it annoys me and I simply take for granted that only hetero men were involved with choosing what photos to use. It also bothers me that so often here on BP, so many women find it OK to comment freely on men's appearance any way they want, when they probably would have reacted negatively on the same kind of behaviour had the genders been reversed. ALL PEOPLE DESERVE RESPECT. I am going to buy the calendar with dogs, and I am toying with the idea of trying to get something like this done where I live, I am sure it would be a tremendous success.

In my opinion, both are okay in general, but neither belongs at work. (And objectifying is NOT okay if it affects your behaviour toward real, live humans.) If your job is allowing objectifying photos of men, then they should allow yours as well.

Kjorn, you are 100% correct. There is objectifying going on in both men and women. These ladies are trying a little too hard to justify it. If women didn't objectify men than there would be no male strippers, there would be no Thunder from Down Under or Chippendales.

I’m a woman and I agree to 100% with you Kjorn! And that’s what struck me too. But why is it so wrong to look at pleasurable humans? We admire art - and are allowed to. Ordinary people have the same access to a Rembrandt as to one of these artworks irl.

The animals here take away sexual points and add cute points :) And hot girls on cars can be okay (at your desk) depending on how suggestive the poses get. (Just my opinion)

You want the non politically correct answer? Because women and men are physically unequal and testosterone in men tends to the average dude to objectify and sexualize women to something less than human. Now that doesn't go for every man just like not every woman will not have feelings like this about these dudes. But most women will look at this, find the attractive fireman cute, especially with the adorable animals next to them, (there's a reason they are there and that their infectious smiles are more attractive than their bodies) and will think no less of them whatsoever. There are differences and we have to embrace those in order to become equals. Bring on the s**t storm in 5, 4, 3....

I think the difference is that in most situations, men are in positions of power. Part of that power has allowed them to objectify women in the workplace, among othef places.

Because this is for charity d******d. Perhaps one day there will be a closer to even ratio of female and male firefighters for them to do a women's Australian firefighters calendar, but at the moment there isn't.
