But what about the animals that aren't actually dangerous, just scary? Like those extra large bugs and spiders. I would freak out for 12 hours straight if I ever saw one.

Agree. I am from WA. And an less you delibritally go out seeking these animals you most likely won't see them. I live close to the bush way out side the city area, every so often you see red backs and snakes, but as Australians you learn to live with them. Australia is a dangoures place, but it a place like no other, and things like this should stop people from coming to this country.

Depending on what's on your property, you possibly keep the animal responsible for the most fatalities here - a horse :)

Its hilarious seeing people and tourists freak out when you say "this guys harmless"

I'm severely entomophobic (very scared of insects), so yeah, freaking out over a good portion of this stuff sounds like an appropriate response to me. On the other hand, I find lizards and snakes kinda cute, so another good portion made me "aaawww".

Because the internet makes it out to be that way. You have things that other places just don't have. Even if it isn't frequent, we are like, "wait, wtf if that?? Why is that a thing?"
