In a sea of social media influencers, it is hard to carve out a niche for yourself – so it helps to be multi-talented – however, more eyes means more critique. Cristina Szeifert is a Romanian clinical psychologist, certified life and health coach, motivational speaker, entrepreneur, an ex-model, blogger, and artist according to her media pages, and with her impressive list of accolades, she has earned 33.3k Instagram followers.

While Szeifert’s main profession is as a psychologist, throughout her page you will see photos of her posed beside her finished artworks with captions like, “This is how I start my morning.” Eye-catching as her paintings are, there was something else about her photos that caught someone’s eye.

Cristina Szeifert regularly shares photos of herself painting  – but someone noticed something odd

Reddit users claimed that in every photo of her painting, her palette never changes. (See her response at the end)

Bored Panda contacted the artist for a comment

“Well, I am a bit shocked about this ridiculous situation but I will answer to you. I have been an artist ever since I was a small child, graduated art school, and it remained a passion over the years. After art school, I attended university for psychology, opened my first business at the very early age of 22, and start modeling at a high level in Italy. Over time, I restarted my passion for painting, especially in the last year. After I finished a painting, I would post the final result on my Instagram page. I like to photograph myself looking perfect so obviously, the pictures with my paintings are done with clean clothes and with my make-up done. I have beauty businesses and am a model for many women, so this is the reason I like to have a good image on social media. I painted a lot in my early years, ages 18-20 and was even an art teacher for kids from an orphanage in Romania (for free, of course). I posted my art pictures to try to motivate people to follow their dreams and not to abandon their passions as I did. I never expected that people could be so irritated because of my clean look. The palette [in the photos] was probably used as an accessory in a few pictures, and I use an acrylic paint that is washable so it looks similar in many pictures. I paint as often as I have time for. I have a busy life but I like to create things and painting is relaxing for me. I am proud to paint and I will keep this passion for the rest of my life.”

So we're supposed to believe she graduated art school... went to university and got a degree in psychology, and then started a business at the age of 22... THEN... started modeling in Italy? THEN, she reignited her passion for art and somehow, between all of that and whatever, was an art teacher for Romanian orphans? Gurl... I call b******t. It's like when people are telling lies, so they give as much detail as possible, it doesn't make the s**t true... it just makes it more c**p. I can't.

I know a chick who said that she lived in Africa for a while and photographed the wildlife there for a thesis. All the photos were from a drive through safari ranch just outside town in Texas. It was a day trip.

Why can't you just be yourself without heavily editing the images? Sure dress how you want, apply all the make up you want but leave your body and face as they really are. You'd think as a psychologist she'd be aware of how damaging all these fake images are.

She may have painted those pedestrian works, but I 100% do not believe anything in her defense statement. She's not only a psychologist! but a high level Italian model! A benevolent teacher for Romanian orphans! and owns a beauty/ cosmetics company! AMAZING!

I don't want to defend her, cause I think she is shallow and vanity driven, but it's her business how she photographs whatever she does. If people don't like that, disagree with her image or message, then they should just stop looking at her. Why waste your time on something you don't find valuable?

Un-huh...yeah. Don't ever forget a provable truth: Online anyone can claim to be anything. Psychologist? Artist? President of the USA? Somehow this particular person comes across as needy, attention seeking and just plain sad. Imagine being that desperate for attention from strangers -- people you probably will never know. At what point in her life did she decide that putting pictures of herself online, dressed as if going out to a high-end club, pretending to paint was a great way to build her esteem? Even if she is an artist, a psychologist, a would-be "influencer" who cares? I would much rather know a real person, not an online stranger pretending to be an influence. Me, I'm influenced by those who do something positive for society, particularly those segments of society who struggle. Just sad.

The last time I've made a painting, I was in my underwear, (Picasso style), paint marks all over me. Even if I was extra careful, I still had paint on my fingers. But, what do I know, I'm not an influencer. People in Romania have a name for this type of girl, full of plastic and Botox, who is shallow, tries to be someone else and always hunts for the next millionaire. They call her : pițipoancă ( pitzi for short).

I can tell these painting are real because they look like the work of a hobbyist. If she was pretending to paint them she would choose more impressive work to pretend to paint. As a professional artist I can forgive someone for having a fake palette as long as they aren't taking credit for other people's work. I think it's kind of cool that painting is considered high status enough that influencers want to show off their work even if painting isn't their primary profession.

She went to art school, got a degree in psychology, and then opened her own business all by the age of 22? Ok, sure. It could happen. I mean, I went to art school and despite the fact that I was a better than average student, I didn't graduate until I completed four years. That was for a bachelors degree not a PhD which is what you need to be a psychologist. She must be quite remarkable to have completed all that education, AA, BS, Masters, and PhD all before the tender age of 22.

You don't really need Sherlock Holmes to realize that this woman is fake. Just look at how she "paints" herself, how can you trust anything someone like this does or says? That's not just make-up, that's a mask! She's too embarrassed to show her face, has an obvious self-worth problem and ...GASP... she is a psychologist??? I hope the few fappers who send her money, help her get help.

Wow it does seem that i might be one of the few who will defend her that is rather odd being on this side of things. Yes she is a little full of herself but she defiantly seems to have painted those peaces. I may not paint on canvas but i do paint scale models with acrylic paints i have paints i have mixed up from years ago just as fresh as today's paint. pallet wise i don't know but i keep my paint somewhat organized when painting it is a habit to form. i do not take pictures so i cant tell about that but her idear sounds better for her audience than being full of paint marks and in ratty clothing make sense that if you do this then look your best not your worst.

It sounds like she needs a psychologist herself. But that is a profession that people with psychological issues gravitate towards, so it's not surprising that she went that route. She needs to look within herself to understand why she has a pathological need for online attention from strangers. Any good she thinks she's doing is all for personal attention and acclaim, her motives are completely corrupt. She says she's a 'model for many women', but it's more like a cautionary tale.

There is no paint on either of the easels and barring the fact that she may own a 3rd, that's the nail in the coffin for me. I have painted every single day for 4 and a half years. From then until now, the one constant is that you cannot control every place the paint lands, be it your skin, sleeves, easel, table, carpet, clothes, or hair. You can explain away everything else, but acrylic paint on a wood palette or easel is NOT 100% washable, so I call nonsense.

I am an artist too and painting can be really messy, that's why I always wear an apron. My hands get all dirty from tempera, or acrylic and whilst painting every once in a while I have to clean my pallet to make make way for fresh colour mixtures especially when using acrylic. Plus I always place a towel on my thigh to clean or remove excess water from my paintbrushes. And from my experience in these images she might be posing while pretending to paint, perhaps these are her paintings, but she is definitely not painting.

If you read her response she says "The palette [in the photos] was probably used as an accessory in a few pictures, and I use an acrylic paint that is washable so it looks similar in many pictures." This would make sense, if she painted the photos and then used the pallete as a prop. But then why have the pallete in the photos at all? Why couldn't she just take a photo of the painting? Why does she have to have herself in the photo? I have so many questions...
