Artist Creates 100 Paintings That You Will Probably Relate To If You Grew Up In Slavic Countries
Living in a certain place leaves a trace on you. The way you remember childhood, what makes you nostalgic, and sometimes even the way you create. Like in the case of Nastasya Chudakova. Nastasya paints beautiful and cozy pieces with fragments from her childhood and life in Kaluga, Russia.
Her pieces are full of nostalgic memories that those who grew up in Slavic or post-Soviet countries will probably relate to. Nastasya features children, grown-ups, and lots of animals in her pieces. The artist also tells stories and scenarios with her artwork and most times, the detailed paintings have hidden Easter eggs in them.

This painting is my dream.I just want this much from life.A house where I can live independently far far away from my family.
Breathing in the steam from boiled potatoes, when you`re sick. Hated that :D
Reminds me of growing up in a tenement building in New York City, in the 1980's
EverBody remembers what this feels like: to be buttoned into your winter coat because the buttons are to small for the grown up to be doing it from the opposite side!
I remember the shelves and displays were far emptier than this, and the little that was, was rationed... This is what propaganda looked like, though (Applies to most eastern bloc countries before the fall of communism)
If you focused on just the faces, you’d think this was a photograph! 😯
I always love visiting aquariums. So calming just to watch them swim around... 🥰💖🐠
If you are a certain age, maybe 33 to 44, you will remember going to *Nana's house where she was old but not as old as her mother (you're great-grandmother) *MahMah that she was taking care of. There was always two sets: one older version of the electronics (phones, TV's, radios, kitchen appliances) for *MahMah and a newer one but still a generation back from your's for *Nana. If this painting also had a cell phone it'd represent said aged person's (33-44) children right now in 2021. Love this artist, so talented and relatable.
If you’d told me at first glance that this was a photo, I’d believe it! 😯
Piano lessons ... at least now they’re a lot easier & not necessarily mandatory! 😅
"He'll be all right, Vasili, you were wise to bring him to see his doctor."
Such memories for me in so many of these growing up across the world. It is important to remember things like this.
Aww ... why are his ears flattened & tail curled between his legs, as though he’s scared? 🥺
New years coming. In Russia the tree is put for new years eve, not for xmas
Technique, emotion, realism, beauty... these pictures have it all. Impressive. This list was a journey.
