Artist Hides Cat In Plain Sight!

When I first saw this photo on my friend’s Facebook page, I immediately wanted to make it into a painting! There were many things I liked about the image, but the thing that really drew me in was the way the cat practically disappears into the background. I loved that you see the dog right away, but it takes a few moments before the cat is revealed.
The other thing I loved about this image is the iconic view of Black Mountain in the background. Black Mountain is one of the most often noticed physical attributes of West Marin County, CA, and to see it in the light of sunset was just awesome.
My friend Laurel is a Vet Tech in Stinson Beach. Both of her pets were rescues. Her dog, Inti, needed extensive surgeries to close up an opening in her body that was there at birth. Laurel nursed Inti back to health, and she is a vital and playful dog today! Laurel’s cat, Ashe, was a feral rescue, and tons of fun, although a bit feisty at first.
With so many animals in need of love and caring out there, a rescue is definitely the way to go! Speaking of rescues…I am so pleased to be offering an opportunity to donate to SoulSpace Farm Sanctuary through the end of this month. When you order one of my pet portraits, I will give you 20% off, and donate 10% of the order to SoulSpace Farm Sanctuary. SoulSpace is now the home to Wally the pig, who made news this past April when he jumped from a truck that was taking him to a slaughterhouse! Share on FacebookI spent ages looking for a cat that's not the black cat at the front. Is it the black cat at the front that you mean? Because I find it to be a fairly obvious cat as far as cats in paintings go. That being said I do like it, it's like the dog is saying "Whaddya want from me?". The dog also has nice long legs.
