6 Comics About My Life With An Anxiety Fairy

I work a full-time desk job, I go to law school in the evenings, and I have a three-year-old daughter. Needless to say, I’m pretty stressed out. On top of everything, I struggle with anxiety.

Art has always been an outlet for me. I can’t seem to sit through a meeting or lecture without scribbling at least a few doodles. I started making these comics just a few weeks ago as a way to blow off a little steam. In doing so, I tried to personify this little broken piece of myself and find some humor in it. Though I don’t believe mental illness is a laughing matter, I do believe that laughter can be good medicine for those who struggle with it.

I was really nervous to put these into the world. The fact that I have received so much positive feedback from other people who say they have the same struggles, the same thoughts, and quirks, has helped me feel a little less alone, a little less broken.

I hope my silly doodles are able to do the same for others who may be battling their own Anxiety Fairies.

Haha, I can relate to everything but nail chewing. Acutally, I've reread this comment at least 10 times before posting it...

Ah, the rereading thing..... every time; and somehow I still manage to make typos each time and I have to block away the memory instantly lol. Great comics btw~

Usually you're the only one that remembers that embarrassing incident. Yeah, I know, it's that "usually" part that gives you the cringes.

I love your doodles but wish your fairy would take a permanent vacation and spend some time all by herself at a sad, empty bitumen mine or something equally smelly and sad.

I can relate to this so much to especially the first two. Does anyone else here have a depression fairy? (Or perhaps, Demon?)

Soooo It is not just me?.... with a few substitutions I can so relate to this. Thank you. Love the idea of the anxiety fairy, I am naming mine a mosquito. And now I can yell at it, and tell it to go away.! Very useful concept. Plus plus plus plus.

"Your dog is probably already dead." My anxiety fairy does that to me too, and it's the cruelest

Yes, when sending email to important people in company I read it so many times, thought it is only me. I bought straightener with turn off timer - at least that one is sorted :)

#1 reason why I hate hummus is cause it makes my throat it for no reason at all, and no matter what i do it never stops

I'm the opposite. I would gladly eat bowlfuls of hummus with a spoon if ever given the chance.

I often think about that fairy but i imagined her not soo cutesy and waiting on my nightstand that i wake up. Maybe playing card with my negative thoughts

I guess this fairy needs a beating occasionally! Or even better, make her cry by disobeying her "advice".
