While I was in college, I worked for a small technical firm doing clerical work. When I graduated and announced I would be leaving for an in-field job, they hired my replacement, another young woman who claimed to be an English major like myself. One day I found her flipping through the dictionary. I asked what she was looking for. "How do you spell Europe?" She was looking in the U chapter. I questioned the wisdom of having hired her, but as much as I liked my soon-to-be-former bosses, I decided to let it slide.

I have a close friend who is infamous among our friend group for misspeaking. One day, we were working together on a project for an event we both volunteered with, and she was giving some names over the phone to another volunteer. She was spelling, “…d as in dog…a is in apple…n as in dog…” When she hung up, I just looked at her and said, “N as in dog?” She just put her face in her hands and laughed.

I had one tell a manager or a supervisor (the main manager later told me this) that I didn't smile enough at her. I didn't realize that, after maybe five to seven hours, I'm supposed to be smiling as bright as possible. I do attempt to smile at most customers, but it's not always easy with some of the attitudes I've dealt with.

Some people need to get a sense of humour 🤣🤣I would have been cackling right next to u 🤣

That actually happened to me years ago. It was a black woman with a hard accent, after the fourth time I couldn't understand her she shouted, Q Q as in...pause ..cucumber. I work CS for a large on line veterinary company.

Probably he/she was talking about Q, the character from Star Trek, which probably likes cucumber... That's the only explanation... 😂🤣😂🤣

When I first got to prison, the guards' winter uniforms were navy blue. Several of us who hung out together, being silly, would sight guards, and say, "Oh no! The blue people are coming!" A few years later, the blue uniforms were replaced by black ones. One can NOT say, "Oh no! The black people are coming!" It just really doesn't work out well.
