This has always been how they do it. They make millions off of forgotten subscriptions.

If you need my payment information, it any free. I don’t trust them and I never take out “free” trials that work this way.

Always ask yourself, would I have chosen this product/service if there was no free trial, if the answer is no, don't get involved.

If it asks for payment information IT’S NOT FREE!!!! And your bank can’t help you. They can’t claim it was fraud when the website can prove you accepted the terms and conditions.

I have a rule, if something is advertised as free but they ask for payment information I just don't take the free trial

I have a mini heart attack anytime I'm in public like on a train etc and on a website that could do this. Being deaf I'm so worried a video will start playing and I won't notice and just subject everyone around me to some random advert, I spend half my time browsing either checking my phone is properly on silent or feeling my speakers for vibration!

Housing should primarily be in the hands of the state, not private companies. Everyone needs to live somewhere and for a society it's better to have it's members live in a home rather than on the streets with all the other problems attached to it. Private companies can play a role in the higher segments of housing, but everyone should be able to live under a roof.

Cancelling people/stuff is not the problem - I'm all for f**k ups having consequences. The problem is outrage culture, where people find more and more stuff to be outraged about, even (or especially) vicariously (i.e. people offended by stuff that don't even relates to them)

The housing problem worldwide needs to be tackled NOW if anything because we're pushing people to situations where they have nothing left to lose, and that is the immediate step before violence (tho this old fart wouldn't mind seeing the streets burning if that instilled a bit of fear and empathy in our governments)
