We think that Hayao Miyazaki needs no introduction - he is, after all, regarded as the most excellent animated movie director ever. For his 75th birthday, we have decided to celebrate with some beautiful desktop wallpapers. Be that as it may, we could all use a daily reminder of his joyful and colorful movies in our lives – especially so when computer stuff is getting us down!
Now, if you don't know already, Miyazaki is the mastermind behind such Studio Ghibli movies as Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle and My Neighbour Totoro, and each of these movies have enjoyed critical and commercial success, with Spirited Away being the highest grossing movie in Japan to this day. And if you've seen these movies, you know that there's something so authentic and relatable about them. If you can't quite put your finger on why is that, we can help. Miyazaki's movies talk about the essentials of life, such us our relationship with nature and technology, always emphasizing the best qualities of traditions, the importance of art and craftsmanship and difficulties maintaining a peaceful mindset in our world. To add to that, his anime characters are never just good or bad, but rather like real humans beings - there's always some redeeming and unfavorable qualities in the mix. Also, Studio Ghibli movies are almost entirely drawn by hand, and you can feel that human touch radiating from your screen.
Now, scroll down below for the most beautiful anime wallpapers that we've rounded up to celebrate the great artist Miyazaki's birthday.
