I Document A Storybook Love Between My Pastel Parrotlets, And The Result Will Melt Your Heart

Meet Winter, Spring, River and Rain, our 4 Pacific Parrotlet birds. When we welcomed these colorful parrots into our family, I had no idea the impact they would have on me. At only 4-5″ tall, these beautiful birds pack the personality of their Amazon cousins into their little bodies.

The love the pairs share is as big as their attitudes. They cuddle, preen, and care for each other daily. Observing and interacting with my pet birds has brought so much joy and laughter into my life. I’m captivated by their beauty, their intelligence, and their sweetness. They’ve quickly become one of my favorite subjects to photograph. I love to tell a story and convey emotion through my beautiful photos and editing. With their mischievous antics and love for cuddling, the birds provide me with plenty to capture! Viewing them through a macro lens reveals so many details that might have otherwise gone unseen… The tiny eyelashes, their little tongues, the perfection of their pastel-colored feathers.

What I enjoy most about sharing the birds is hearing back from people that they’ve found them to be very inspiring photos that have brought a smile to their day or allowed them to briefly escape to a storybook place where fluffy birds find true love.

Perhaps we humans can take away something very worthwhile from even our most distant relatives. ;D

Incidentally this article from yesterday is well worth reading if you are fascinated with the two pair above. "Some Songbirds Have Brains Specially Designed to Find Mates for Life" - https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/13/science/songbirds-brains-mates.html

There is something seriously wrong with me. When I see something like this, and I see how in love they seem to be, all I can think about is the day that one of them will die and the other will be completely heartbroken. It's why I can't enjoy life.

Oh adorable! I have a Canary wing parakeet, who is pretty closely related to these guys. People are always so shocked when they see how attached she is! Such sweet and cuddly little fluff muffins <3 IMG_9055-5...fb5e64.jpg IMG_9055-5a8594bfb5e64.jpg

Thank you! They're aren't but a lot of people mistake them for lovebirds. They do both come from the parrot family :)

So cute pastel parrots, as a child/teenie I had 10 budgies through the years, not all at the same time, the highest number of them that I had at the same time were 5 of them, that was in the 80s!!!

Your little parrots are beautiful. I have a cockatiel and I wish she had a mate so she could have this kind of life (we had a male and he loved her, but she did NOT love him!). I hope they all have long and loving lives together.

How beautiful these birds must be IN THE WILD, WHERE THEY BELONG! Caging birds is CRUEL and SELFISH. I notice how careful the photographer was to not include pictures of the cages.

That's because they are not caged. They are cage free during the day and go to their cages at night on their own...
