Being employed at a company that neglects its workers’ values is never fun. To this day, many organizations practice harmful environments that are, frankly, overlooked by many; more and more people are experiencing burnout, and employees are forced to exist in negative cultures where they constantly endure mistreatment.

Folks grow to hate their once beloved professions; they begin to feel unhappy and ultimately fail at their jobs. Even though nowadays, it’s become somewhat of a norm to be vocal about the distress that the workplace brings upon a person, we still have a long way to go.

Raising any concerns on social media, whether work-related or not, is a highly effective method to bring the attention that, sooner or later, will contribute to problem-solving, and this delivery driver did exactly that.

More info: TikTok

Amazon is known for its questionable values and the company has been criticized yet again

“I got bit by a dog on my route” – this delivery driver turned to social media to vent about Amazon and their poor issue resolution tactics concerning his recent event involving a dog attack. The video has managed to receive 177K views, 8465 likes and 161 worth of comments discussing the incident.

This delivery driver speaks out about the company’s response after he was bit by a dog, goes viral with 177K views

Justin Baker began his TikTok video by revealing that, after the incident, he called his dispatcher, who advised him to call Amazon’s driver support. However, once the man got through, the representative told him to contact the emergency support, where he was put on hold for 10 minutes.

Finally, when the connection was established, the woman greeted the driver and hit him with the good old “how are you?” The guy voiced the video over, saying that he was obviously feeling bad as you rarely get a positive response when you’re calling an emergency line.

The author then mentioned that the woman went on to ask a bunch of “useless” questions. For instance, she wondered whether the man was driving a branded van or if it was just a plain white one; Christine also asked what kind of shoes the guy was wearing, making him question the correlation.

But what’s so puzzling about this unfortunate event is that once the TikToker contacted his manager, he was asked to finish the route before heading to the ER.

Lately, Amazon’s been known for drawing in criticism; people have questioned the company’s ethics and, more importantly, the treatment of their employees. In the comments, the TikToker revealed that it took the company six whopping months to pay for his hospital bills – moreover, they wouldn’t answer the man’s calls until he finally decided to call the state on them.

What do you think about this situation? What are your initial thoughts about Amazon and its values?

I don't think Amazon's policies are questionable at all. There's no question they're written by sociopathic monsters who should be getting put in an asylum, not allowed to manage a company.

There have been way too many stories about how horrible Amazon treats its employees for them to be anything but SOP for Amazon and is why I absolutely refuse to order anything from their site. The only way to get big companies to admit they are in the wrong and it is not okay is to hit them in the only place they care about; their profits.

My wife works for USPS and she got bit by a dog pretty badly not that long ago. Day of everyone was fine- but afterwards they wanted to SUSPEND her and WRITE HER UP for getting bit by a dog. Absolutely ridiculous! These people who deliver our mail and packages work long hours, in extreme heat, pouring rain, you name it. They all deserve better.

Some USPS management can be reprehensible but the letter carrier union can and will protect carriers if needed. I’m glad to hear the word getting out that being any kind of a delivery person can be a horrific job sometimes.

Isn't this the same company that told its employees to stay in the path of a tornado where several of them died? This dog bite story is tame compared to that.

Well, we live in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere and have to drive an hour for groceries. That hour gets me to Walmart because that's what's closest unless I wanna drive in a big city with insane traffic and that hour becomes much more. Sometimes I just wanna get my pantry staples without driving two hours with two kids to spend five minutes picking up my groceries that someone else shopped for anyway. Then stop for takeout somewhere because by the time we get home, get two kids settled with said takeout at the table, and put groceries away before we eat cold takeout that's four, maybe five, hours out of my day. If I use Amazon I don't have to get takeout or wrangle a two year old octopus into what she thinks is an instrument of torture. If my husband stays home with the girls I come home to dinner, but I'm gone even longer because I can actually do the shopping and probably get a pedicure or a hair cut if I need one. That's just me though. Who knows about anyone else.

I'd like to agree because I say that all the time. The problem is that companies don't. If you "displease" anyone in management, they can and most times will just fire you. I have to be honest, when I was younger I hated unions. I thought they were obsolete. With the way work culture has gotten, they're more necessary than ever!

I wish more folks knew that Amazon does NOT employ drivers directly. They contract out to 3rd party Delivery Service Providers (DSPs) and the DSPs are the ones who should be looking out for their drivers. The drivers are NOT paid by Amazon. If people should be mad at anyone it's the DSPs that don't care about their drivers and force them to do things like finish a route after a dog bite. When I was feeling overheated on one of my larger routes my DSP immediately sent someone to take the rest of my route so I could go home and rest. Stuff like this isn't on Amazon, it's on the DSP. I wish more people knew this. Now... The warehouses on the other hand... That's all Amazon and I've heard horror stories about them which is why I would never work at an Amazon warehouse, but I have no problem being a driver especially if I'm working at at DSP that actually takes care of their drivers.

Had a route courier position maybe 25 years ago (not UPS, FED EX, or Amazon). It was winter and I slipped all the way down wooden porch steps. When I landed at the bottom, I screamed from pain. Had to crawl all the way back to van. When I called base on two way radio, they asked if I could finish my route. I said no, despite them begging me to continue it. After 2-3 weeks of incredible back pain, I was told I could return, but with a lifting restriction of x weight. I knew something was more than x weight, but was told that if I pushed it onto cart somehow instead of lifting it, that didn't count because I wasn't lifting it. Plot twist: I messed up my back again.

I can actually tell you why they asked about his shoes, if he wasn't wearing appropriately protective shoes then Amazon can say he wasn't using his personal protective equipment and therefore they are not liable and don't have to pay him a dime. Companies can and will pull this BS to save money. This proves that "emergency" dispatch's primary mission is to keep the company safe, NOT it's employees, although that's kinda obvious considering an "emergency" service kept him on hold for so long

I can relate. Was a mailman for several years. BUT that's what you get for working non union delivery, which is the shenanigans Amazon pulled here by creating their own drivers. Shitty managers that try to take advantage of you is the downside. See you would contact you union steward and tell them to contact your manager to send someone out to pick up the truck from the ER while you were being treated - if your manager said some nonsense.

Oh how I hate how Amazon treats their employees!! My husband went to them after his FE job moved. He was one of those warehouse workers that would have to take mandatory time off WITHOUT PAY if there was no work! Because he was new he had no PTO to use. I'm sorry but if an employer sends you home for any reason other than disciplinary, they should pay you!!! It's not your fault there's no work. I never got paid for snow days at my job. There was a diesel spill in the yard one day and the fire department closed the receiving lot so he was sent home. No pay. I hate that they're so rotten to their workers and Bezos is a *****!! Someday he'll get his comeuppance.

Initially, the bite may just look like 2 small puncture marks, BUT, within a few days (especially if treatment was skipped because it was "only a little puncture "...) it can turn into one gigantic nightmare of cellulitis and major infection. Doesn't matter if it's a chihuahua or a pit bull (obviously, the Pittie can do way more damage initial and leave torn, shredded skin also, but from "the puncture " standpoint), consider what they "lick", some dogs like to eat other dogs poo, rodents, they will play in standing muddy water, drink from lakes and streams (bacteria infested) AND, depending upon what area of the Country u live in, let's not forget the Geese! For some reason; dogs love to "snurffle" up (eat) & trudge through "goose poop"..... source #1 for diarrhea in dogs, especially after fun at the park & lake! SO..... imagine all that grossness which has just been "injected" under your skin into your body like from a syringe: aka, your dogs teeth. AND, theres the rabies concern

I'm not sure about the rabies situation in the US. I would be very scared about that. Here it's not a given that animals have rabies shots. The questions seem to indicate the person this poor guy spoke to couldn't give two shifts, maybe they would've let him go directly to the ER if he'd been in a white van...

Okay let me explain this the best way I can...after being an Amazon employee in 3 different warehouses...THEY DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT GIVE ONE S**T ABOUT YOU...for Amazon it's all about the customer as they tell us as employees we are a CUSTOMER ECCENTRIC COMPANY!!!..THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THEIR BOTTOM LINE AND KEEPING PEOPLE BUYING..that's it..they give you a 15 minute break and it takes 5 minutes to walk to the break area and 5 minutes to walk back so you get a 5 minute break b******t but that's the way it is at Amazon that 10 minute walk time that's part of your break...oh God please don't have to take a p**s on your shift because you get hit with time off task and your manager asking where or what you were doing for that x amount of time you weren't working...Amazon is a f*****g joke they Even know by the department you work how long the average associate will work there...it sad that they know this...the average pickers Amazon life span is 6 to 8 months...that's sad

He didn't work directly for Amazon, he even says he "Switched DSP's after that." Those are privately owned, 3rd party delivery companies that deliver for Amazon. It wasn't an Amazon manager that asked him to finish his route, it was the manager for the 3rd party DSP. This is misleading & I doubt it's on accident. My husband started at entry level 1 and is now a level 5 supervisor for Amzl aka Amazon logistics & they would never do something like that. Safety is HUGE, big enough to where if you violate safety measures, you're fired. Amazon has been nothing but a blessing to us. They have changed our entire standard of living by pulling us out of poverty by way of the opportunities they've extended to him. All the employees at his station call Bezos "Uncle Jeff" Does that sound like the nickname of an evil boss or one that takes care of hisemployees? Obviously I've heard and understand other stations and cities have different experiences, but here everything is pretty good.
