Japanese Cardboard Artist Turns Old Amazon Boxes Into Tanks, Food And Other Incredible Sculptures
Somehow, everybody sees a cardboard box differently. Some people see it as a storage unit, some cats see it as a perfect home, and Japanese artist Monomi Ohno sees it as a building material for her amazing 3-D sculptures.
It all began during her studies at Osaka University of the Arts, where she decided to specialize in 3-D animation. Yet to get your hands on the necessary software, you'd have to pay a pretty penny first. So instead of spending all that money, she decided to use the stash of empty Amazon boxes laying around to hone her 3D modeling skills on.
What was supposed to be practice, has turned her into a cardboard artist! The empty boxes have become a canvas which she can now turn into literally anything. From tanks, rifles, and pop culture characters to even food! Take a look and don't forget to vote for your favorites!

re: their slogans: 1 - A better beer deserves a better can (the company didn't see this can LOL) 2 - It's all about the beer. (nope in this case, its about the can!!!)
this guy should put these on ebay, or sell them profesionaly. i would buy them for $30 plus
My 12 year old so also creates cardboard sculptures. He recently won for best sculpture at out homeschooling co-op for his r2-d2. I would love for him to get to talk to her! juried-art...096bd5.jpg
Pretty sure he'll get arrested producing that level of high quality counterfeits
The detail in these things... I didn't know cardboard was capable of being manipulated so precisely! Wow.
I'm speechless! I can only imagine the time required and the pain in her hands, to create just one of those sculptures. Astounding!!
Love your work well done can only imagine your birthday you where more exited about the box than the present!
First of all, we've seen this before. This is nothing new. Some people make things out of garbage, toilet tissue, paper, cardboard boxes, strips of wood or planks. She draws the plans, scales, then do the cut outs, then paste them together. If you're an artist yo can do the same exact thing. I saw a dad make toy cars and a bed for his son out of cardboard.
Monomi Ohno you're my HERO! :D (I just don't have the words to describe how wonderful your work is ... "amazing" doesn't quite cut it)
Absolutely stupendous works of art. I have never seen anything like it. This should be world staged.
this is madly impressive. they have no plan to work from...my mouth is hanging open!
This is skilled work, but I want to see her own sculptural creations, not re-dos of everyday objects.
Are you selling any of these creations and if so how much and take my money.
ok for her talent, but nothing new.....Chris Gilmour already did...http://www.chrisgilmour.com/
Wow, this is some of the best work I've seen. So good down to the tiny, tiny details!
i saw the first one and my mouth dropped to the table... then i scrolled down and my mouth dropped through to the floor.
Every war should be fought with weapons provided by this talented lady ... and pillows.
Really impressive-as an artist i'm wondering about the cuts- think they were probably done w a laser cutter - still, gorgeous craftsmanship!
