Amanda Bynes is embarking on a journey to master the art of the manicure, proving it’s never too late to polish up a new skill.

The 38-year-old actress announced that she’s going back to school to materialize her dream of becoming a manicurist.

As of now, Amanda’s plan is to study and perfect her skills in nail art before she takes the required test to obtain her license, the She’s The Man actress wrote on social media.

“Since I haven’t passed the board exam yet to get my manicurist license, I started back at school to study manicurist theory and to practice doing acrylics before I take the test again, so I’ll be good to go when I get a job at a nail salon,” Amanda said.

The famed childhood star, who became a household name through her memorable performances on both television and the big screen when she was young, first announced her new career route as an aspiring manicurist back in 2022.

“In cosmetology college to become a manicurist!” she said in an Instagram Story at the time.

The What A Girl Wants actress also said last year that she wanted to pursue her passion of becoming a manicurist because she no longer wanted to do podcasting.

Last December, Amanda started her new podcast with co-host Paul Sieminski, a biochemist. The pair sat down and spoke with Los Angeles tattoo artist Dahlia Moth for the debut episode of “Amanda Bynes & Paul Sieminski: The Podcast,” which was released on December 9.

After dipping her toes in podcasting, Amanda told her fans, not long after the first episode, that she was having trouble booking high-profile guests for her podcast.

“I felt really sad and I was in a really bad mood because the podcast was actually something that I was really looking forward to filming next week and it was something that I was really happy and excited about,” she told her TikTok followers. “So I talked to a few friends and they all said to keep going, so we are going to continue the podcast and we are filming next Friday, as planned.”

About a week later, she told her fans that she no longer wanted to drone on in front of a microphone for her podcast and would rather surround herself with nail files and polish.

“The 1st episode of my podcast did really well. I was actually surprised and of course was going to keep going after friends encouraged me to,” the Hairspray actress said in an Instagram Story.

“After thinking about it, though, I would rather get my manicurist license and have a consistent job. I’m going to follow that path instead,” she added.

It was all the way back in 2010 when Amanda was seen in her last movie, “Easy A,” and the very same year, she announced, at the age of 24, that she was retiring from acting.

“Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem,” she tweeted at the time from a now-deleted account. “If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it. I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it.”

“I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first,” she added. “I’ve #retired.”

Once a beloved rom-com star, Amanda Bynes said she is now focused on practicing “doing acrylics” before she can finally get a job at a nail salon

Amanda was only 7 years old when she first started acting. She captured hearts with her impeccable comedic timing and versatile acting skills after landing a role in the Nickelodeon variety sketch show “All That.” The show catapulted her to fame at the age of 13, and she later starred in her own comedy series called “The Amanda Show.”

Her career moved to the big screen after her first feature film in the 2002 comedy “Big Fat Liar” when she was 15. She eventually went to take on more mature roles and quickly made her way up the rom-com ladder.

The actress eventually landed in legal trouble and was placed under a conservatorship granted to her mother, Lynn Bynes, in 2014. Amanda eventually filed a petition to end the conservatorship in February 2022.

“Amanda wishes to terminate her conservatorship. She believes her condition is improved and protection of the court is no longer necessary,” Amanda’s lawyer, David A. Esquibias, told People at the time.

Her conservatorship was terminated in March 2022.

The actress gave up on acting because she said she was “convinced” she should “never be on camera again”

Amanda has since shown no inclination towards making a comeback in Hollywood. The actress spoke in 2018 about why she left acting and said her performance in “Easy A” convinced her she should “never” be in front of a camera again. She also called her retirement declaration on Twitter “stupid” during an interview with Paper magazine.

“I literally couldn’t stand my appearance in [Easy A] and I didn’t like my performance. I was absolutely convinced I needed to stop acting after seeing it,” she told the magazine.

“I saw it and I was convinced that I should never be on camera again and I officially retired on Twitter, which was, you know, also stupid,” she added. “If I was going to retire [the right way], I should’ve done it in a press statement — but I did it on Twitter. Real classy! But, you know, I was high and I was like, ‘You know what? I am so over this’ so I just did it. But it was really foolish and I see that now. I was young and stupid.”

Many sent their best wishes to Amanda Bynes as she paves her way to become a manicurist
