If I asked you to name a few places where you see/hear/read about the most common conflicts between entitled people and where in most cases they get karma, probably quite a few of you would name planes. And to be more specific – conflicts about seats, where people cause quite a bit of drama if somebody’s sitting in their place, they’re unhappy with their assigned place, or they have an unbearable seat neighbor.

Speaking of plane seats, one Reddit user shared her story after an encounter with not the nicest fellow passenger who embarrassed her for mixing up her seat. But, well – karma exists, and in the end, she ended up in a much better seat.

Well, the woman moved to row 6, where she ended up sitting alone while the other lady was crammed with 2 more people

One Reddit user posted her story to one of the communities dedicated to sharing small victories over those who wronged them. Even though the woman noted that it wasn’t revenge, it was satisfying – after being scolded by a fellow passenger for being in the wrong seat, she ended up having an even better seat. The story caught folks’ attention gathering 5.6K upvotes.

The original poster (OP) started by explaining that she usually books rows 6 or 7, thus this time without a lot of checking, she sat in 7D but intended to sit in 7F. A few moments later, a lady approached her saying that she was in the same row, in the aisle seat. The OP checked the letter on her ticket that showed her seat was aisle as well, however quickly realized that it was in row 6.

She informed the lady, who, as loud as she could, said ‘Oh so you ARE in the wrong seat’ and almost climbed over OP. Well, the woman moved to row 6, where she was sitting alone while the entitled lady was crammed with 2 more people. “And I don’t really feel like offering anyone the space,” OP emphasized.

People online loved the story and shared their similar situations: “So unnecessary! Two weeks ago, when I found someone in my seat because they misread the row, I just said “no problem! I can just take yours.” End of interaction. Why can’t people be civil?” one user wrote. “Should have turned around and thanked her for pointing out that you were in the wrong seat, you really appreciate her attention to detail,” another added.

Now, due to quite a lot of drama, quarrels and fights between passengers on planes, there are a few unwritten rules that people online are sharing in order to make traveling more comfortable for everyone. Nobody wants to get caught in seating drama that prevents them from reaching their destination as soon as possible. Okay, maybe not everybody, but most people.

Speaking about that, AirHelp listed a few suggestions on how to avoid a fight on the airplane. First of all, don’t recline your seat fully back during meal times. Despite discussions about this, it’s probably fair to allow others to have their meal comfortably.

Another one is that the airplane isn’t the right place to make new best friends – there may be people who want to communicate, but not everyone. Also – don’t get intoxicated on your flight and don’t go vigilante on someone’s child – it’s not your place to correct someone’s kid’s behavior.

Now, let’s come back to the seat topics – every one of us has different preferences, but there are a few suggestions from experts on how to choose that ‘perfect’ seat for you. According to CN Traveler, if you are a nervous flier who has a fear of flying or anxiety over turbulence, a seat in the middle aisle over the wing might feel the most stable, especially during turns.

If you are a parent flying with an infant, according to experts, getting the first row of seats in the aircraft cabin, which is situated right behind the wall dividing business class or premium economy from the coach, would be a smart option. And finally, if you have a short connection that you can’t miss – “a seat near the front of the cabin would be best for dashing off the plane and getting to your next gate.”

So, guys, don’t forget to be kind on planes with fellow passengers, maybe it may even lead you to having a better seat! And what is your take on this story? Share your thoughts below!

Jesus, what a non-story. Person is in wrong seat. Person moves to right seat. It's hardly War and f*****g Peace, is it? Pathetic, even by BP's increasingly low standards.

What a complete nothing of a story. You sat in your assigned seat, someone was vaguely rude about you being in the wrong place before you moved.
