I Painted A Mural On The Walls Of An Airbnb I Was Staying At And The Host Refunded My Stay
Before I left to Tokyo my Airbnb host messaged me from Canada asking me to paint something little on his walls. In exchange, he would refund my stay and I would be able to call his place my own whenever I visited Tokyo. I was truly honored. So I left a little love behind!
I paint with Japanese Brushes and Sumi Ink most often. So painting on the walls of this incredible and tiny home in Shibuya, Tokyo was a dream. Being able to use traditional Japanese mediums on the walls worked perfectly. Eric, The owner of the space has become a friend since and I’m so grateful I got to create and leave a piece of me in Tokyo – a place that I’d like to call my second home someday!

The gold paint is kind of nice, but the black and the dripping makes me sad.

I know right, it kinda looks like he was in a hurry to finish painting. I would not want to stay in a room like this, it would drive me insane. I want to scrub it off just by looking at the pics.

Gold one is great. Black one looks like smudged graffiti. Less is more sometimes.

I'm assuming that the owner knew that he was an accomplished artist- these are beautifully crafted drawings- line quality and composition are original and have great flow... I love the use of metallic overtones! can you write a little more about the calligraphy? Are there messages within the script? Bravo! Oh if u r ever coming to Tucson and want to paint walls, my house has some walls which could uses Some love

So... I live in a niceish home in the glorious city of Zutphen, The Netherlands... If you are looking for a third home it would be perfect.. You'd be more than welcome! ( And would love to hear insiders advice about my trip to Tokyo next year... :-)

I'm seeing a story, it's weird and beautiful! Love it! P.S. why do the eyes and eyebrows look like that in most of his paintings? They remind me of "Big eyes" :D

The calligraphy's nice, but black drawings on the walls are... I'm not going to say bad, but definitely sloppy, but even if the lines were better, the motive and the idea is lacking.

Encouraging people with no skills to destroy your walls... It's tricky enough to manage your guests to have nothing damaged in the end. Something like this happening at my home would be a TOTAL nightmare to me.
