Then it's a good thing. Nobody said it is just a symbol of the LGBTQ community. Just because the commenter had that is their initial reaction doesn't mean they are denying the rainbow has any other significance. That's a pretty big leap.

2/ of course i'd be annoyed if someone posted a picture of an anting-anting with a little description, and all the comments said ":0 illuminati", especially because those thingys are kinda sacred. but this is just commercial/exterior design/architecture, so if someone commented ":0 gay" about the rainbow on it;; i- do not get why people would be genuinely annoyed? but you're free to do and feel how you want to!! i'm just going to passive-aggressively stare at you from a little goat corner :> (just kidding, do what you like :D)

What is the first one? Oh yeah! to represent light refraction through a prismatic medium, oh that’s not what you meant, was it peace in church! I remember that too. Some people initially jump to that when they see a rainbow, but that has literally nothing to do with completely denying any other significance it might have. Correlating things is just what the human brain does when it sees stuff.

I used to be obsessed with rainbow everything, still love rainbows :) love the LGBT community too but sometimes people ask me if I’m a lesbian when they see my home decor (I’m straight)

Even if you weren’t, that would be perfectly fine

Unfortunately aborigine still correctly refers to all of the pre-european tribes on Australia and associated islands such as Tasmania. Outside Australia it doesn't carry the racist baggage and simply means a person descended from the pre-invasion population. Similar to the difference between Native American and Indian here in US. The activists get pissed if you say Indian. The Indians I worked with at the tribal casino and the Indian relatives from another local tribe and the Indians from still more local tribes use Indian by preference. Try asking the ordinary folks who don't give a damn about the political battle, you might be surprised. (My nephew married a Kalispel He insists on Native American, she refers to herself as Kalispel, a member of the Kalispel tribe of Indians) It's the activists who normally get pissed, not the people themselves🐶

Also similar to “indigenous” a direct homonym with “aboriginal” I like the use of the term pre-invasion population because it brings out the occupying nature of non original peoples in societies with this dynamic.
