Mojito and his fellow siblings were born to a dog who got pregnant after running away. When the mother came back and her humans found out about her new puppies, they didn’t want anything to do with them so they immediately surrendered the gang to Love Leo Rescue in Los Angeles.
The newborns were half pug, half Chihuahua, so the staff called them “chugs” and named them Mojito, Mimosa, Daiquiri and Piña Colada. “We offered to spay the mom for free, but sadly they declined our offer,” Love Leo Rescue’s president, Sasha Rose told The Dodo. “We run a free spay and neuter clinic for low-income residents and cannot emphasize enough how important it is to spay and neuter your pets.”
According to Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, dogs with darker coats generally get adopted less than others, because they don’t photograph as well. Unfortunately, that was the case for Mojito and his two sisters. However, Mojito’s problems didn’t end there.
“Mojito is the only male from the litter, and he is also the runt,” Rose said. “He is much smaller than his siblings, with shorter legs and a more pug-like face. He is the most affectionate of the crew though, and loves nothing better than snuggling in your lap.”
The Chugs were with the rescue organization for a month before an unexpected guest arrived. Actress Hilary Duff came by and said she’d adopt Mojito – now, Momo. She already had a few dogs, but that didn’t stop her from expanding her family.
“Another win for black dogs everywhere,” Love Leo Rescue wrote on Facebook. “Mojito has found his forever home … happy in the arms of Hilary Duff. This little chug went from ‘unwanted’ to the best life ever. Thank you, Hilary Duff, for spreading the ‘adopt don’t shop’ message and welcoming Mojito into your family.”

"dogs with darker coats generally get adopted less than others, because they don’t photograph as well." WHAT? Look at these photos, what says "doesn't photograph well" in these photos. What a stupid reason not to adopt him.
Same with black cats, although with the cats it's usually superstition. Black animals in general are not adopted as often.
Load More Replies...They photograph less well?! OMG. A dog is not an Instagram accessory, it's a pet!!! Who cares what it looks like on pictures? Seriously. Anyway. This one DOES photograph well and looks adorable! He's lucky he's been adopted by someone who obviously cares about animals, and he'll have everything he needs!
That's so crazy to me! I think darker color dogs are the cutest!!
Load More Replies...Black kitties have a hard time getting adopted too -- for superstitious reasons. My black kitty Sammy IS very hard to photograph (this dog looks amazing, though). Also, what kind of idiots don't spay their doggie??
Especially when it can get done at no cost to the owner.
