Lovely pics but only a handful fit the ‘renaissance’ label. I do like the idea: especially the snaps of everyday life around the world (aside from gorgeous skies etc), it makes us less distanced from other people, even from other times.

Exactly, most of these are more like romantic or neoclassical paintings, definitely not renaissance.

Even before Photoshop, professional photographers were manually editing their photographers in or outside of a darkroom by using dodging and burning techniques, using glass prismatic filters, using Vaseline on the lens, vibrating/scratching the photo during development, etc. You are very rarely going to see a raw photo posted if it is done professionally.
