This Online Community Is Sharing Pics Of Absolute Units, And It’s Hard To Believe Things Can Get This Big
"Absolute unit" refers to jokes made on the Internet in which people caption images of large objects or beings with a variation on the phrase, "In awe at the size of this lad. Absolute unit." I know, this explanation sounds a bit clunky, but it's the best one I came up with. However, I assure you that the pictures are way better than my description of them. Whether it's a 67lb cabbage or a squirrel who has eaten 3 jack-o'-lanterns, I bet you didn't even know things can get so huge! Eventually, the meme got so popular, it even spawned a subreddit of the same name. And it's an absolute unit. Here are some of its top posts.

Internet meme database 'Know Your Meme' considers 2017 to be the origin of 'absolute unit'. Then, Twitter user @mrreptoid uploaded a picture of British hotelier David Morgan-Hewitt posing with the Queen of England and captioned it "In awe at the size of this lad. Absolute unit," referring to Morgan-Hewitt. The tweet gained over 3,500 retweets and 13,000 likes but the account it was shared from eventually got suspended for unknown reasons.

The meme really took off on April 9th, 2018, when The Museum of English Rural Life tweeted a photograph of a ram along with the caption "Look at this absolute unit". Within 72 hours, the tweet, which was submitted by the museum's program manager Adam Koszary, accumulated over 98,000 likes and 27,600 retweets.
The following day, the museum posted a follow-up tweet, featuring a photograph of a pink index card containing information about the ram. Then, on April 10th, The Museum of English Rural Life published an article titled "The History Behind an Absolute Unit," which provided additional information about the ram.

A week later, MIT Technology Review tweeted an article about the world's biggest airplane calling it an "absolute unit" and Elon Musk responded by saying, "I'm an absolute unit too" with a picture of the before-mentioned Museum of English Rural Life ram picture. His response gained over 6,000 retweets and 60,400 likes in just a single day, cementing 'absolute unit' in Internet history.
Interestingly, that same day, Twitter user @Bryson_M dared Musk by saying, "Make this your profile pic" and the business magnate almost immediately changed his profile picture to the ram, adding the words "absolūt unit" in his bio. After noticing the change, The Museum of English Rural Life changed their profile picture to Elon Musk and renamed its account to The Muskeum of Elonglish Rural Life. To top it all off, Elon Musk has reportedly hired Koszary, the man responsible for the viral tweet about a giant sheep, to be Tesla’s social media manager.

I read online and heard from a diary farmer that most cows can get this big but they are usually butchered first. So Knickers may seem extra big to us but he isn't really unusual if we stopped killing them before they reach full size.

Knickers, the giant one, is abnormal. Usually you see holstein steers at about 4 feet, and I’m guessing that’s about how tall the surrounding cows are as well (even though they aren’t holsteins; not sure what they are)

The differences are subtle but clear to the eye of someone who spent some with with either of them. Maine C00ns have longer ear fluffs which makes their ears look more pointy as opposed to the Norwegian forest cat who’s ears look more rounded. Also, a Maine C00n has a larger jaw, which results in the very classicy intense face-structure. Look up Mr. Vivo! Norwegian forests have more and slightly tougher fluff which makes them seem more like a floof-ball, whereas C00ns have silkier fur which makes them appear longer and more slender. Maine C00ns can grow larger than Norwegians, actually Maine C00ns are the largest house-cat breed. In behavior they are different too. Maine C00ns are sometimes called ‘gentle giants’ because they are so relaxed and sweet-natured, kind towards other cats and children. True, but I think this is a Norwegian Forest cat, which is one of the biggest breeds. I've seen some huge males, weighing 28lbs. So a truly large cat made to seem even bigger through clever photography.

The face and eyes are Norweigian Forest Cat, which get massive (the males, especially) as well. But you can see the face is quite different from the Maine C**n in the post further up on the list.

@sarah and @k1ddkanuck vegans do not use or consume any animal product. They will not eat meat, dairy, eggs, fish, honey. They will not wear any animal fibers (wool, alpaca, silk, cashmere, camel, mohair) or any product made with an animal hide (leather, suede). And, of course, they don't wear fur. Vegans belief system is animals are "sentient beings" and should not be used for food or otherwise exploited by humans. Personally, I don't believe in wearing fur for the sake of wearing fur--fur farms are horrible. However, fur as a by-product of food? No problem. Inuit people hunt seals for food and use their fur for coats. It's a win-win situation for them. The people walking around NYC in a mink coat? Yeah, I'd like to skin them and turn them into a coat for my dog. But that's just my opinion about it.

I have an english mastiff whos about the same size. They look intimidating but my mom baby sat for multiple years and he never hurt a child. instead he would let the children lie down on him :)

Next to the emergency exit and the restrooms. Lufthansa. The best airline I have ever flown on. This was 1981.

Air Canada for me. That plane was so tight it zipped through the atmosphere like a bullet - no sounds. Nothing flapping or whistling or cranking. Lovely. My seatmate was rather nice too.

It's a young one, there's still some downy feathers there and they're always these big balls of feathers. He most likely flew out of the nest recently when the picture was taken and he'll be fed by the parents on the ground since it can take a week or so before they're able to fly.

actually i have a story for y'all. so one of my old teachers went to a movie theater, and she snuck in some candy because she didn't want to pay for the theater's candy, and when she sat down for her movie, she found out that the tile below her was loose, and could be pried open easily. so she took it off, and it seemed t be a hidden compartment. so she put her candy in it,k and enjoyed the movie. the next day, she came back, but snuck in more candy. she looked and found the mvie that played in the same theater room. then she put it in the compartment, and enjoyed the rest of the movie. on the third day, she did the same thing, only to find that a big, fat, squirrel had gotten into the compartment and eatn all her candy. lol

The parents are absolutely bonkers! How in the world could they let a small child with a huge snake? If the snake wraps around the little girl, the parents won't be able to save her. They should be put in prison for endangering their child. I find this not entertaining or funny, but extremely sad that the kid has such lousy parents.

I doubt the parents would let their snake near their child if it was hungry. Very very rarely will a python constrict if it’s feeling threatened, because it uses too much energy and is not worth it. Also if this python has regular holds and attention especially from the child then it is unlikely for it to feel threatened so again unlikely to bite the child let alone kill the child.
