Something about this just captivates me. It's so stunning
Load More Replies...It belongs to the side buildings of an old castle. The castle has been renovated but the pool and horse stables are slowly decaying.
This evokes mixed feelings. You smile at the thought of people splashing and playing, but feel sadness at its demise. Abandoned buildings do have their own kind of beauty. Also, there are so many stories to be told by an empty place and the relics left behind.
I LOVE when Mother Earth reclaims from us what is hers. This picture is beautiful
Yes. I would love to be able to see it in 50 and 100 years.

So, you're saying it wasn't a money-making dragon, then?
Load More Replies...Yeah… imagine how many spiders and mosquitoes there are!
Load More Replies...Then there is that one person that keeps visiting to see if it is still open
I don't know why but the first thought I had was Jumanji lol. Really pretty though
The inside doesn't actually look all that bad. Surprised nobody has tried to refurbish this place. Diners, drive ins and dives could add this to the list.
It's depends where is located! British have the culture of eating out even a coffee is rather taken not at home! Culture also matters!
Load More Replies...Yes I was thinking this looked the same. Not sure this is actually legit

Load More Replies...I don't know why but i want to know the story behind this. What exactly happened that the homeowner left their house like this?
That’s really sad. Didn’t anyone try and reunite the presents with their intended recipient?
I'm pretty sure this one is a staged photo. The home probably is actually abandoned, but those are likely propped
Can't put my finger on it but there is something sad/sinister about this picture.
UPVOTE FOR THE SIMPSONS REFERENCE!!!

I want to know what happened, what was the reason for leaving it like this
Is this from the Vice video where they find what appears to be a drowned animal in the fountain? Abandoned building can be fun to explore, but you can find a lot of bad things. Occasionally bad things find you...
People living in tents would beg to disagree. And take their chances. I personally believe that all abandoned malls should be renovated by billionaires to house the homeless. I'd do it. If anyone's doing it; I'd invest.
Load More Replies...Malls weren't really a thing back in the 70s. The 80s, malls were the only reason to live.
Load More Replies...Sad... so much waste. So much more to come when they all close down for nothing
I've been inside a dying mall. They're strange. Many locales have learned the days of big indoor malls are gone. After our city decided to let a developer build one, thus killing the CBD & downtown businesses which couldn't afford the rent in the mall, they learned about 20 years later the mall was a bad idea when it folded and an outside company bought it, Leveled 1/2 of it and turned the remaining stores into outside entrance like the malls of yesteryear so none are dependent on a set schedule or what others are doing. The worst part is they lost nearly all the good stores and now they've filled it with anyone that's interested just so they have a tenant. So they have a bunch of c**p stores. If we need to shop variety, we have to drive nearly 100 miles.
That was. A. Weird. Book. Mostly because. Of all the. Short. Sentences. And periods every. Few. Words.
Load More Replies...No, that's just a typical Pennsylvania highway. They're all like that.
That's what roads look like in Pittsburgh PA! Typical size pothole
I used to snorkel over an old section of A1A in South Florida that has been underwater so long there are strange coral formations on it. I found some beautiful tropical fish living there. Took some research to find out that it was formally A1A.
A rock slide could have taken out a big section and it would cost too much to repair.
In a few thousand years, some archeologist will dig up this place and wonder WTF those crazy atomic age people thought they were doing.
Those shrubs are like "WHEEEEE" over the course of several years...
Amusement Park in Pripyat, Ukraine 30 + years after Chernobyl Power Plant had a Radioactive disaster.
Farewell to the fairground. These rides aren't working anymore...

Load More Replies...Yes, looks like a great place to see a show :'-(
Load More Replies...This reminds me of the abandoned theater I slept in in New Orleans 6 months after Hurricane Katrina. That place was haunted . At least the ghosts were cool to me while I stayed there.
Need a historical group to refurbish this theatre and make it grand again.
The franchisee that owned this burger king should be held responsible for the building maintenance until it is sold or torn down. I think the city that this is in should be fining them.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men. Couldn’t put BK together again.
When a restaurant goes this long without a tenant, there's a bigger story behind it. Sometimes it's a matter of the lease. BK may have signed a 20 year least then pulled out after say 5 years but the building can't be leased until their lease is up. Everyone loses in the end. Rent is paid on a building they're not using, and while the owner does get money every month, in the end they're left with an unusable structure. Here, a developer built a strip mall back in the 80's and made an agreement with someone to make it happen that the rest of the land wouldn't be developed for 100 years. So now all parties are dead and gone, the original business are all long gone and a large commercial space sits undeveloped. At the rate things are going, by the time that century is up, there won't be any reason to develop it. Everyone loses in the end
That's it , we're planning a trip to eat the Forbidden Crisps.
Load More Replies...Thinks like this always blow my mind with the thought that one day, however long ago, someone used this without any thought, with absolutely NO idea they would be the last person to EVER use it. Same with places, someone left that house/theme park/swimming pool one day and no one ever went back. Especially the ones that still have stuff in them, like no one cleared it out. It implies that it wasn't planned that no one would go back, rather than a planned shut down/move. Just a weird thought.
Every once in a while I get a similar eerie thought. What if this is the last time I do this? Then I try to enjoy the heck out of it. Turns into a kind of Zen-like thing.
Load More Replies...Wow. The level of deterioration of the machine compared to the contents... What is that stuff made of??
That should say a LOT about what we eat...even vermin didn't eat that stuff.

What would suck, haunting a prison. Like you died there and still can't get freedom? That ain't right.
Why not the "Mr. Ed" theme song? " A corpse is a corpse, of course, of course..."
Load More Replies...If walls could talk. Or you could stand in a certain spot here and go back in time.
It'd be really cool if a lot of these abandoned buildings could be cleaned up and maintained by some kind of grant funding to help the homeless get back on their feet 🥰
Burj Al Babas in Turkey - almost 600 finished & unfinished houses. Construction commenced in 2014 but the developers went bankrupt before the 4-year program could be completed
That explains why they're all a plain boring color. Such a waste. If only someone could have bought them out or something.

Who would want to live in a Renn-Faire themed cluster suburb anyway...?
Can you imagine exploring all on your own and going into the vault and the door swings shut and locks?
Does anyone else remember the movie "The Vault" with James Franco? 😱
Where are all these bigger places, like theme parks, cinemas etc? Don’t the owners have an obligation to get rid of what can be recycled and not to leave junk lying around?
I would imagine not. And even if they did how do you get a broke company to do that?
Load More Replies...This is The Swingers' Tiki Palace in Birmingham, Alabama. The owner was convicted of tax evasion and hiring a hitman to kill his wife's lover. So, basically he was living the exact sort of life you would expect someone with a giant Playboy pool to be living...
They're... not... mannequins... *runs away screaming*

There was a santa park not too far from where i live. I think it closed. I never understood such an exclusionary theme for a theme park. Park designers: "Let's base it on a holiday". Okay, but one that is only celebrated one day a year". "And one that is focused around a religion that much of the world does not follow." "Okay, but let's also alienate many people in that religion by focusing on a distorted stereotype image of a dead saint instead of on the deity the religious holiday is actually about!" "Perfect! There's no way we can fail!"
I imagine this Hellish Santa golem pulling the sharpened candy cane stakes from the ground as it rises to its full height and utters a low but bellowing growl of 'Ho. Ho. Hooo.' And then you run.
Something like half the Olympic sites ever built look like this, or have been cleared - monumental bankrupter for all but the richest nations.
Let's go ahead and top that pool off before jumping off those platforms.....
Actually, even that seems to be not NEARLY enough water
Load More Replies...I alway wondered about this abandoned places... Are they free to take or have lazy owners?
You actually had to drive there park and go inside to see if they had the latest movies....oh the pain...leave your house to get a movie
Load More Replies...The last blockbuster on earth is in my hometown and they turned it into an airbnb where you can watch movies on a giant screen with popcorn and snacks like your own private theater
They already have that. The last Blockbuster in operation in Eastern Oregon.
Load More Replies...You know that this is in a shopping center somewhere, why hasn't it been maintained for a new tenant to move into?
Not necessarily. There were stand alone blockbusters
Load More Replies...Blockbuster! The gankiest video rental place to ever exist!!! They hired the biggest jerks on the planet to run them! Video Giant was a smaller outfit but lasted longer! Blockbuster was so ganky it got to where you could buy the movie for cheaper at Wal-Mart than renting from Blockbuster!
Yes, but remember, they are the last ones who would ever let you down.
I'll bet that shake machine is worth some bucks. I'd take it and restore it.
If you build it, they will come. But dammit, put in some seats so they can watch the game when they get here!
When you look at the real talent that's displayed in much graffiti, it's a shame they couldn't paint something worth seeing instead of just a name or words.
