It's skin cells and dander. If the place was pretty well dusted prior to its abandonment and there are no living things in the structure, there's nothing to produce much dust. Clothing, carpeting, draperies, upholstery, the paint on the walls... everything was completely ruined. That may have been a factor in why everything was left in this home. I own another home that I don't live in. Someone broke in rambled through everything left there. Used my daughter's bb gun to shoot holes in the walls, pictures and furniture. Of course they stole stuff, nothing highly valuable, just stuffed they fancied. Some of the things were sentimental. I was already going through a hard time when this occurred. The person breaking in probably thought it was a fun adventure, but for me it just made me that much more miserable. Not necessarily the truth. The photographer may have been able to gain approval from the estate management/owner and been allowed to enter areas deemed safe. Even possibly paid a fee to do so. That would explain the lack of close-up photos in the kitchen. The owners could very possibly still be fighting with the insurance company, & generally until the insurance pays out, the owner isn't allowed to start any rehab, or even remove possessions, especially if arson/insurance fraud is suspected. It also could have been repossessed by the mortgage company & they just haven't bothered. We had a home in our neighborhood that has sat empty since late 2018 - the husband died suddenly & his widow apparently has been battling with the insurance or mortage & just last month was finally able to sell it. The home was custom built in the 1980s with many beautiful features. But sadly in 2018 a fire broke out forcing the family to leave everything behind. Thankfully no one was injured in the fire. But the home may never see a new family again. Also said that smoke filled the mansion forcing family to leave everything behind and that they moved to a new town. Possibly, there is an insurance fraud case pending or the insurance company ruled it a fraud case and refused to pay. I'd still go the salvage route if so. So many questions, so few answers. Clothing, carpeting, draperies, upholstery, the paint on the walls... everything was completely ruined. That may have been a factor in why everything was left in this home. I own another home that I don't live in. Someone broke in rambled through everything left there. Used my daughter's bb gun to shoot holes in the walls, pictures and furniture. Of course they stole stuff, nothing highly valuable, just stuffed they fancied. Some of the things were sentimental. I was already going through a hard time when this occurred. The person breaking in probably thought it was a fun adventure, but for me it just made me that much more miserable. Not necessarily the truth. The photographer may have been able to gain approval from the estate management/owner and been allowed to enter areas deemed safe. Even possibly paid a fee to do so. The owners could very possibly still be fighting with the insurance company, & generally until the insurance pays out, the owner isn't allowed to start any rehab, or even remove possessions, especially if arson/insurance fraud is suspected. It also could have been repossessed by the mortgage company & they just haven't bothered. We had a home in our neighborhood that has sat empty since late 2018 - the husband died suddenly & his widow apparently has been battling with the insurance or mortage & just last month was finally able to sell it. The home was custom built in the 1980s with many beautiful features. But sadly in 2018 a fire broke out forcing the family to leave everything behind. Thankfully no one was injured in the fire. But the home may never see a new family again. Also said that smoke filled the mansion forcing family to leave everything behind and that they moved to a new town.
