Puppy Abandoned At The Airport Had A Heartbreaking Note From His Owner, And It’ll Make You Cry

Meet Chewy, a 3-month-old Chihuahua who was found injured and left alone inside a Las Vegas airport. But before you judge his owner, just be aware that the doggie was left with the following heart-breaking note…

“Hi! I’m Chewy! My owner was in an abusive relationship and couldn’t afford me to get on the flight. She didn’t want to leave me with all her heart but she has NO other option. My ex-boyfriend kicked my dog when we were fighting and he has a big knot on his head. He probably needs a vet. I love Chewy sooo much — please love and take care of him.”

Luckily, one kind person soon found the doggie and took him to Connor and Millie’s Dog Rescue. That’s where the founder of the shelter, Lindia Gilliam, first learned Chewy’s story.

“My heart dropped to my knees,” Gilliam told The Dodo. “I didn’t hesitate to accept him and instructed my foster to immediately get him to an ER.”

Gilliam says this shows the difficult situation of pet owners in abusive relationships. “This is a very overlooked issue as a whole,” Gilliam said. “We also wanted to try and get the message to Chewy’s mom that she did a brave thing and that he is safe and will have a great life.”

Chewy the Chihuahua is doing very well and will be up for adoption soon

We hope for a bright future for the doggie and his brave mum who walked away from abuse

And who knows – maybe one day, when they’re both back on their feet, they will be reunited again

Poor baby. So glad, she made the brave choice of getting out of that abusive relationship and the very brave choice of getting her little baby help in an unconventional way. It must have been very difficult for her, especially not knowing what would come happen to her puppy. Hope she's in a safe place and the cutie fluffball quickly finds a forever home

You can tell from her handwriting she was pretty upset, stressed, heartbrokened, etc. Hope too she's ok now. I'm sure she already saw all posts about Chewie and knows he is fine and has tons of people asking to adopt him. Lets hope they can reunite some day.

I know how difficult leaving abuse can be. 3 years of it and no access to a phone or outside if i did anything wrong in his mind I would be beat up. I finally ran out with nothing but my backpack of clothes. Good luck to both of you. I hope you're happy now and you're puppy is adopted soon.

I am so proud of his previous owner for doing something that would have been sooo very hard to do. No different than having to give away a human child. I hope she is safe and maybe can even be re-united with the gorgeous little Chewy one day.

I pray for not only their safety and wellbeing but that maybe there Is A way of bringing the two back together . I have been the victim of domestic violence myself and I know that my two little Chi's where the only things that I felt real love and acceptance from. That was a very UNSELFISH THING the young Lady did by leaving him like that to get the medical attention and care Chewy needed. She must not only feel scared and lost but now completely alone without the love of her little friend. My heart is breaking for her. I hope that this act of real love don't go unnoticed and somehow they are brought back together where they Geelong.

Being in an abusive relationship is a real hell. And, undoubtedly, the owner of the dog acted correctly, interrupting these relations. But let's imagine that she had not a dog, but a child? Would it be "cute and touching story" that she would leave him at the airport? I do not equate children and dogs. But both are a our great responsibility. And we must bear this responsibility. P.S. I am the owner of three dogs who have made many crossings with me. Sometimes we had to choose more complicated ways, but we managed it. And yes, I, too, was in an abusive relationship.

Can't believe the note when the owner was not responsible for the dog. Could have left him with the vet or animal hospital. Plus in a larger sense the connection between a psychopath and dependent personality is no safe place for an animal.

If she loves him so much, and she's left her boyfriend - she says he's an ex- why doesn't she come back to get the dog? I know it'd eat me up day and night, and I'm not the only one. So, where's the love?

She said she couldn't afford to take him with and let's be real, if the relationship was as bad as she insinuates, why WOULD she come back? She made the right move here.

The owner did what was right, though the LV airport isn't a safe place. I was there a couple of days ago, to much gambling drunks.
