Dust off the tuxedos and polish the Aston Martin because there may just be a new James Bond in town!

British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson may possibly step into the shoes of one of cinema’s most iconic characters, James Bond, as he has been formally offered the role.

If he accepts the role, 33-year-old Aaron would succeed superstar Daniel Craig, who portrayed the MI6 spy for about a decade and a half.

Eon Productions is slated to begin shooting the next Bond film this year, and the script for the movie is currently being worked on. Reports said Aaron previously took a screen test for the Bond franchise but is yet to sign on the dotted line for the upcoming movie.

A source said the filmmakers are waiting to hear back from Aaron to formalize the Kick-Ass actor’s iteration of James Bond.

“Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back,” the source told The Sun.

Another source said he may not be “the best known in his field” but noted that his Golden Globe-winning performance in the 2016 movie Nocturnal Animals helped pave the way for his casting as James Bond.

“Aaron may not be the best known in his field but he is an incredibly talented actor,” the source told the outlet.

“His role in Nocturnal Animals showed his depth as an actor,” the source said and added, “He is the perfect person to play Bond and will pick up well from where Daniel left off.”

Aaron Taylor-Johnson previously said he finds it “charming and wonderful” that people see him fit to fill the shoes of James Bond

Aaron was among several actors considered for this prestigious role, including Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, and James Norton.
