A Photographer Who Clicked 2500 Pictures Of Windows And Doors Of Europe Across 13 Cities
What you photograph most when you Travel?
Yourself, Nature, Animals, Monuments, People. No, Uday Singh from India photographed the least of the things you would expect. While backpacking across Central Europe he took 2500+ pictures of Windows and doors across different cities and towns in Europe.
He made a photography project and published a book titled ‘Windows and Doors of Europe’. He has also published another book titled ‘Cycles of Europe’. He says the project is an outcome of his love for Architecture, Photography and travel.
Here is how he describes his experience.
“I was backpacking in Central Europe where I used to walk around different towns every day for 4-5 hours alone with Nikon DSLR in my hand. Anywhere I stroll I would come across old beautiful buildings characterized by these elegant and charming windows and doors. These captivated my mind so much that I thought of capturing those impressions so that I can show it to the world the beauty that resides in these doors and windows.
Just imagine a building without a door and window. Ahh! I can’t. A building architecture is incomplete without doors and windows. These add to the beauty of the architecture. Windows and doors along the narrow passages take on varying shades of brown, red and yellow, at their own whim and fancy. Project captures lots of shots of Stores of all kinds lining the narrow alleys across different towns – small cafes adorned with coffee bags and jars, convenience stores with rows of varied products showcasing their line, and stalls displaying their goodies in the open.
This work captures the intricacies hidden behind these doors, windows and cycles and my fondness for arts and architecture.
Project showcases 400+ windows and doors filtered among 2500+ photos clicked across different cities/towns namely Berlin, Warsaw, Krakow, Zakopane, Bratislava, Vienna, Budapest, Ljubljana, Auschwitz, Bled, Prague, Cesky Krumlov and Venice. These encompass several architectures namely Baroque, Gothic, Colonial and Victorian architecture.
European architecture is one of the most eye catching and beautiful in the world. Windows and doors magnify the glory of these beautiful structures. I hope next time you visit any of these cities you would stop by these doors and windows for few minutes, hold your breath and enjoy the timeless beauty these present to your eyes.
I wish to continue this project further covering Western Europe and Scandinavian countries. I am raising money by selling a book and prints of some of these photographs.”
