This 0.5k Marathon Dedicated To Lazy People Will Give You Free Beer And Donuts
Many people hate running and there’s no shame in admitting it. Running is hard and takes a lot of stamina. But there’s an event that will make every non-runner put your running shoes on.
A group of people in Boerne, Texas are hosting a marathon and it’s nothing like you’ve ever seen before. In this “marathon” you’ll have to run only 500 metres. The race is billed as the “running event for the rest of us” and almost anyone can finish it without even breaking a sweat.
What makes it even more perfect, there’s free beer at the beginning and at the end of the race. If you feel like it, you can take a smoking break and treat yourself to a coffee and a donut while running the track. But even if these benefits are not motivating enough, for an extra fee you get a “bigger” medal and you don’t have to run at all, instead, you can ride the route in a 1963 Volkswagen bus.
This event will be held on May 5th and will benefit the charitable organization Blessings in a Backpack, an organization that provides food on the weekends for children who depend on federal free and reduced meal programs offered through their schools.
Although there are people who believe that this event makes fun out of real marathons, this event could be really fun for non-runners. Tell us what you think in the comments.

Share on FacebookThe people who commented negatively probably didn't bother reading that it was for a very good cause! It's not to insult those who have the drive and desire to run a legitimate marathon; it's to feed kids. Some people I guess just need to complain about something.
I don't understand how anyone could be offended by this. It's just a silly event that raises money for charity. Plus, donuts!

Reminds me of those people who have the "0.0" bumper sticker on their car as a joke, meant to mock those who have the 13.1 and 26.2 (half and full marathon) bumper stickers on their car to show off how much they've ran. I don't know what they want, do they want from other drivers. Do they want us to give them the thumb's up when we drive past them? Telling friends and family wasn't enough?! I have more respect for the 0.0.
reminds me a little bit of bay to breakers before they got lame.
