Portuguese Street Artist Creates Stunning 3D Graffiti That Seems To Float In The Air

Odeith, an extraordinarily talented street artist based in Portugal, creates incredible works of street art that will fool your eyes into thinking that they’re floating 3D sculptures. His mastery of anamorphic art and perspective is truly mind-boggling.

We suggest taking a few minutes to look at his art, because that’s what it will take to deconstruct and see through his brilliant illusions. By incorporating the ground and the ambient lighting of a work into his composition, he makes it seem like his “floating” paintings are casting shadows on the ground or even giving off light.

The artist is a true renaissance man, as he used to run a tattoo studio and also sells canvas paintings as well. Check out his website for more of his awesome works and read on for his interview with Bored Panda!

I was kind of tired of the conventional regular 3D letters so I was always searching for something original,” Odeith told Bored Panda. “I got my first leg from one letter coming out of the wall. Since then, I’ve always been trying to reach a new level

If you see the first ones you can see that was something was growing up as the years passed

I left school at the age 15 and never had art lessons. I think everyone is capable of anything – you just really need to want to do it

It takes a lot of time to reach a higher level of perfection. Spray paint to a lot of artists may be a big headache, to know how to get the quality you desire

Never quit your dreams if you’re a dreamer. And sometimes, it may take a few years to earn credibility

There is a beast with heart of cold stone that dashes like lightning, shreds flesh from bone. // Bewitched by this beast, I fell to my knees. My mouth babbled madness and mumbled soft pleas. // I stared down the ravenous, gnashing dark maw of a cute cuddly kitten with yarn in its paw

Superb--many US cities it is considered a misdemeanor. How sad city councils cannot see the ART instead of something that is destructive.

Great work - although I would rather have seen more variation like the crocodile and the octopus than his name.

He's kind of obsessed with tagging his name. Maybe someone should encourage him to open his mind with that talent. (Love the octopus.)

Odeith is and always has been a graffiti writer. Street art and other kind of works are his "moneymaking" source. Your name is everything.

By how much? 20-30%? And is it greater than, I don't know, Velasquez or Delacroix or Vermeer? And if so, what's your scale of reference?

It looks like he paints the ground, not just the wall. That might be creating the "fake" appearance that you're referring to.
