“Inside A $3M Doomsday Condo”: This Is How A Luxury Survival Bunker Looks

What 2020 showed me is that it’s not too bad an idea to have a doomsday bunker. Somewhere nearby. Just in case. And there’s still a month left to this year, so we might need those bunkers handy if the internet’s jokes about an alien invasion and a zombie apocalypse turn out to be true.

If you’re shopping for a bunker and you’ve got enough gold doubloons to sink a pirate ship, you might want to draw inspiration from this bunker north of Wichita, in Kansas, which sells 3-million-dollar full-floor condos (the cheapest half-floor ones cost 1.5 million dollars while penthouse suites can be bought for 4.5 million dollars). We don’t know the exact location of this 20k-square-foot doomsday-proof underground building, but that doesn’t mean we’re short on other details.

What used to be a Cold War missile silo built by the US government was turned into luxury condos. The Survival Condo Project, which is behind everything, states that up to 75 people can live in the bunker for a whopping 5 years. And you’d really be living in the lap of luxury there. The bunker has everything from a general store and a library to a medical center and bar. Just be prepared to pay the monthly 5k-dollar residents’ association fees.

Check out the video about the doomsday bunker in Kansas right here

North of Wichita, the bunker is a repurposed US government missile silo

It goes deep underground…

15 storeys deep, in fact, and it can survive a nuclear blast

The mega-bunker is full of luxury condos that turn surviving the Apocalypse into thriving underground

The bunker can hold up to 75 people (12 families) and has enough resources for them to survive up to 5 years

The project has redundant electric sources so there’s enough power no matter what happens

Inside, there’s everything that you’ll ever need (and you won’t get bored easily)

There’s even a general store inside the mega-bunker

Did we mention the place has a gun range? Not a bad idea if there’s ever a Zombie Apocalypse

They also installed aquaponic farming systems

Whether it’s a global pandemic, a nuclear disaster, Mother Nature throwing disaster after disaster our way, or a financial collapse, having 9-feet-thick walls and being 15 stories underground can make you feel safe.

According to Business Insider, Larry Hall bought the missile silo for 300k back in 2008 and immediately began work on turning it into a high-end bunker. Hall and his team spent nearly 20 million dollars on the project that allows 12 families to survive even a direct nuclear impact.

The bunker has everything that you’d expect from something as high-end as this: it has 3 redundant power supplies, 3 separate water sources, a water filtration system, aquaponic farming, as well as hydroponic food. It sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie, but it’s reality.

Of course, just having the bare minimum things for survival is no way to live. So the bunker also comes with a gym, swimming pool, movie theater, rock climbing wall, and… even a dog park. So it’s safe to say that you’re bound to come out of the bunker fitter than you went in.

Hall explained that discipline, productivity, and keeping busy are incredibly important for keeping things running and for mental health. So he suggests that people work 4-hour days and rotate jobs every month.

And if you’re interested… Hall and his team are working on converting a second missile silo into a bunker. It’s going to be thrice as big as this one and we can’t wait to see what the final product looks like.

Since Americans have proven that they can't even survive being forced to stay in their house for 3 weeks, this bunker is useless.

Great, just what we need - more bullshit that only benefits the super wealthy... who, judging from all the quarantine breakdowns, would probably throw a tantrum about not having a beautiful mansion to play around in. Stop phrasing it with "you" & "us," we are not the target audience for this ridiculousness & never will be because, believe it or not, we're not the greedy whiney brats known as millionaires.

This also the reason why rich people do not give a flying hot sh*t about climate change or nuclear war. They think they’re gonna love through it on luxury, (Hint: They won’t!) And I have no idea what effect it will have on the hundred or so people who would be trapped in the bunker, when they realize the world above them is probably gone, they can’t leave....and this is now their prison.

Recents events have shown us that if you ask people to stay inside à few weeks for their own safety, they won't give a f**k. And we won't talk about wearing an equipment that could protect them from radiations. Pretty sure that about one week after Doomsday, some asshole will run outside, leaving all doors open, screaming "my libertyyyyy" and will doom all the other in the bunker.

I never understood "apocalypse bunkers" for government heads of state and rich people. What's the point? You do NOT need lawyers, bureaucrats, rich, movie stars, athletes, etc, if the apocalypse comes you need farmers, small engine mechanics and engineers, doctors, dentists, books, seeds, farm and social animals, you DO NOT NEED BUREAUCRATS. They are worthless and contribute nothing but confusion and obfuscation. You need people who know how to do things, not people telling them how to do it who have NO IDEA what they are talking about.

Why worry about doom when 75 humans will be safe and supeeerr relaxed. They'll surely reinhabit and save mankind. All our hopes now lie in the 12 very wealthy people who'll not let humanity die. A fresh fish counter during an apocalypse where you're living underground? What will be on display, cans of tuna? The whole thing is grotesque. If it ever comes to this, I truly hope that those left up top will barricade those selfish assholes inside for all time. It's those who are raping the Earth now and destroying ecosystems and entire species who think they will be able to hunker down and wait it out while the rest of us die from a lack of resources. Money won't protect anyone for long in a true apocalypse.

Sincerely, don't know what to say. It's a neat project indeed but definitely worthless when things would start to go really haywire. How the people inside is supposed to live/thrive inside this very expensive looking vault, when the stocks of food and the rest will run out ? There will be a count like for "hide & seek" in order to choose who's going to get supplies outside, in a probably radiation-torn wasteland ? Hydroponics are useful but when you want a bite from an hamburger, what will happen ? Not everybody can live off quinoa and avocados for all the time while being stuck inside.

No one is going to go in there, one of the ideas is that they do a rotation themselves, being the ones who maintain and clean the place, I don't see a way for the super rich to do the maintenance work, or as cleaners, they are going to demand maintenance in the place, and that would only make people who work into slaves, since the money would be worth zero.

Exactly! Whose gonna keep the place running, fix those meals, keep the place clean? Whose gonna do that and not get paid for it? I don’t see the wealthy inhabitants being able to do any of it, and their need to establish hierarchies wherever they go will most assuredly result in the destruction of all of them!

"in fact, and it can survive a nuclear blast" - nope, sorry to ruin the fun but... well ok the bunker might. But having been in a real, testet by the Soviets (they built one dropped a nuke on it, and when it was good enough rebuilt it somewhere else), nuclear bunker this thing is a death trap in case of a nuclear blast. The shockwave is moving the walls up to 1 meter on instant and everybody standing close to one would be knocked to death by it. So real nuclear bunkers are completely suspended with a gap of said meter to the outside walls. Also better have oxidising panels in that doors otherwise the heat melts them shut and there is no way of getting out.

Panic Attack City! Just getting under ground to the second level would make me nauseous, with anxiety rising up from my gut, up into my head. Good exposure therapy though. If I could afford to live in such a place I probably would not bother. I would probably not like the company of people who would live in a doomsday bunker. Am I wrong to assume that the residents would mostly be paranoid and scary?

Please, fellow Pandas, instead of 'liking' this real estate advertisement trying to push property as a pseudo solution for the very wealthy to what we humans are doing to our planet, go to https://www.stopecocide.earth and sign the petition and join the movement to make ecocide an international crime!

I just read the Silo Series, and this post looks eerily similar to what I imagined in the books! Of course, the silos in the books were larger and didn't have the luxuries in these condos. Very cool!

Swell. It's bad enough to have some sort apocalypse. Then we've got to put up with these entitled assholes surviving.

Yeah, let's just park a few trucks at the main gate of this trash heap, wait a few months, and steal anything left inside.

Maybe instead of having only 1 bunker, they could have about 5 bunkers per state (250 bunkers in total). Then, they could hold more people

Anyone rich enough to afford this will be totally incapable of looking after themselves following an apocalypse.

No need to worry about that, these bunkers are for millionaires because apparently only the rich have the right to survive.

The US Army sent me to Fort Riley, Kansas in the early 1970s. My son was born there. Needless to say, I will never return to Kansas. Northern California is my home and Kansas has no mountains.

great, and after 5 years this 75 peoples become rats and start to eat each other, because after a real nuke war, you have to know that outside is not safe for at least 20 years........and...The exact location of the repurposed missile silo is a well-kept secret....doomsday bunker in Kansas right here North of Wichita...... LOL

Then there's the gun range, because America. Lmfao! They'd be shooting each other and having their own little mini civil wars over who gets to be the big boss.

Also amusing are the wind farms to provide electricity, heating and ventilation. You're betting on an apocalypse that won't incinerate everything above ground.

And just how are these millionaires supposed to live in this Onepercenter's haven/hellhole, without having any peons to order around, maintaining these tech systems, producing their food, keeping their water clean, their sewer system unblocked & - above all - all that nice clean air available for them to breathe..? I give them a week before they run out of air 'cause no-one knows how to do anything but call for a servant & they're too damned arrogant/ignorant to try & learn for themselves...

"Redundant energy sources". Though the bunker might survive an atomic explosion, those windmills and solar panel surely aren't.

Anything that happens that makes you need this kind of bunker is not somethign I'd WANT to survive. And then you come out of this luxury appartemtn to what exactly? This is just a waste of money

Sleazy Weaver

Nope, the residents would be selfish entitled rich brats who think they're better than everyone else. They would spout nonsensical "We're all going through hard times" bullshit from the safety of their million-dollar bunkers while everyone outside dies from whatever disaster is going on.

So let me get this straight: in the event of an apocalypic disaster, only the richest people get help and safety and the rest of us are left to fend for ourselves? ...oh wait. That's pretty much what just happened.

1) when they emerge and the world ended, now what? They lived for nothing. 2) who will fix things when they break? 3) where aredead bodies going? 4) how do they get fresh food, or is it canned food for 5 years? 5) What happens if you cause a fire? 6) Sex. Sex. Sex. With all adults. So many 5 year olds will emerge from there. 7) Neighbor complaint?
