Woman Rescues 21-Year-Old Cat Abandoned By Owner, To Give Him Best Remaining Days
At the sunset of his life, 21-year-old cat Tigger was abandoned by his human at a local veterinary surgery. Sad and confused, he couldn’t understand why. But then Adriene Nicole came along. Nicole saw his story on the Canton Neighbors page and decided to take him home. She wanted to give him the love he needed.
Sadly, Nicole soon discovered that Tigger had kidney failure and a golf ball-sized tumor. But it didn’t hold Nicole back: “Though he has kidney failure and we found a tumor, he kicks it like a 12 yr old. We decided to create a bucket list full of random adventures [for Tigger],” she wrote on Facebook.
“Though it might not be much to others, all the little trips outside are a blast for him because he loves to be outdoors…the beach being his favorite so far,” she explained. “The most important part is that Tigger’s story just shows how amazing it is to adopt a geriatric pet and give them the best remaining days! He has forever changed our hearts and will hopefully change the hearts of others when it comes to adopting older pets!”

Share on FacebookI'll never understand why anyone would just dump their pet, and after so many years?? That's just sad. Good thing there are still kind people like Nicole. I hope he can enjoy his remaining days(/weeks/months/years) full of love and happiness.
Hard to understand...money, sadness, unable to deal with death, selfishness - could be so many things, or a combination of things.

During the reading of this story and viewing the photos I am so moved by the kind heart of this young woman...and I cried ...I have a 16 yr old male Mr BK...he is one of many that have blessed by life. Thank you Nicole for giving this sweet kitty the last wonderful moments of his life.
So touching. There is an old female cat at my home, she is almost deaf and she sees poorly. Although it's really tricky just to touch her, I really wish her a long happy life with full tummy.
Humans that abandon their pets shouldn't be allowed pets OR children!! Ugh. They make me so angry.
What a beautiful thing for you to do Nicole. I have an old Tom Cat who looks like his twin... His name is Buck and he is the most lovable cat I've ever had. He is fine except for high blood pressure. Love this story.
Nichole, you are a hero and an amazing lady! I have a small animal shelter, and I know so-called geriatric pets have a lot of life left in them. i still miss my 18-year old puppy-mill rescue Chihuahua (rescued when he was 13, toothless, and about to be "eliminated", from a horrible, unnatural life). Many years ago, we had a 20-year old cat that developed mammary tumors and had surgery to remove them. She bounced back, and lived another 2 active and love-filled years.
i bei don the same, it's great! And Oldies arme such beautiful cats, they deserve also Love and a warm place!
I adopted a 16 year-old calico cat two years ago and she's running my house now, at 18. She's such a little character. I can't imagine life without her.
I truly hope you receive blessings for having a loving kind heart and bringing this gorgeous boy into your home. People need to remember they will get sick and old and you will want kindness shown to them. I Wish him comfort in his last years.
I have a 22 year old calico. I know our time together has grown short, but you my dear have given me the inspiration to want to do this with her!! She does love the outdoors, but I don't let her out anymore, so frail. But I could actually take her out with me so she can enjoy what life she has left. God bless you!#
Marmalade cats are so very loving and affectionate. It's absolutely despicable that someone would just dump him off. It's just unimaginable that people do these things. Nicole, you warm my heart. Thank you for your caring kindness!
My cat has CKD: they told me 6 Months to live. We started acupuncture and the end is no longer anywhere in site. All his levels reversed. He's doing great!
Wow! I wonder if that would work for me! You've given me a great idea -- thank you. My vet practices acupuncture and Chinese Traditional Medicine as well as current Western methods. I need to find an acupuncturist for ME.

I say you have done the most wonderful thing anyone could of ever done for Tigger. God bless you and your dear sweet friend. I wish him many more carefree.days with you.
I hope the lad enjoys what time he has left with someone that loves him. I ( years ago ) used to lead gravel & sand from a river side quarry and they had a feral female cat that lived under an old ex railway truck they used as a storeroom and she used to come out and sit with me at 05.00 in a morning and eat all my snap so had no dinner for myself, after two weeks I used to be surrounded by about fifty of her kids all eating everything I brought them, It used to cost me a fortune to feed all these tatty old moggies but it was well worth it to see them getting some food, The weigh bridge lass had worked there for thirty odd years and the old moggie was there when she started working on the weigh bridge, the lass had been working the weigh bridge for 31 human years, so how old was that old moggie.
So lovely! They even match with hair colour! :) Poor fella getting abandoned like that.
What a wonderfully sweet story, made my heart happy to read how much Tigger is loved!
I love my 11 y/o lady cat far more than you can imagine and i would never abandon her, no matter how high the vet bills will be or had already been. I love animals, especially cats, but i could never adopt geriatric ones, not because i look for beauty, but because i couldn't bear to part so soon with them. I get attached very quickly and so profoundly that i consider them a member of my family. I know i'm selfish in this matter, but i would rather donate to shelters than take an old kitty home. I know how horrible it sounds, but this is my weakness. I admire people who are as strong as Nicole.
At least you realize your own limitations, but still help out financially. I assume when you say you would rather donate that you actually DO donate. You can also donate your time. I have a handicapped friend who can't do any physical work at her shelter, but she spends several hours a week just talking to caged shelter cats, petting those who like it, and just sitting with them.

Why after 21 years? Something is missing here... They could have dumped him when he was younger but at 21...I just can't believe... still, God bless the couple for giving him a good life in his last years....
I can only hope that Karma rewards those who abandon old or sick pets with the same treatment from THEIR families... What a beautiful old soul he is... I just hope any of mine survive that long.... but abandon them at the end... NEVER!!!

I try not to judge. I adopted a 12 yr old l.h. Chihuahua with a bad heart murmur. He is now almost 14. Loves snuggling at night, going to the dog park, riding in the car. He now has trouble seeing and arthritis but still loves sunny naps. Thank you Nicole for loving an older pet.
My baby girl was 21 yrs old when we finally had to let her go last week. She was a loving, wonderful cat. She will be missed.
Ms. Nicole, you have done a wonderful, wonderful thing. Good on you!

thank you very much for helping an unwanted animal! everyone needs love! thank you so much!
What a lovely story. You, Nicole, and Tigger make a lovely couple. The love and kindness you are showing this precious pet is commendable and so heart warming. My old Tom Cat, Buck, looks exactly like Tigger. So heart breaking but he is so sweet and I love him so much.
Unable to deal with Tigger's illness or old age or whatever is totally unacceptable! I hope these people in their golden years are left lonely, ill and sad and maybe they can reflect back to the time they left thi gentle soul when he needed them most. To Nicole and partner thank you sooo much for opening your heart to this gentle soul.1
Nicole, what you two have done for Tigger is wonderful. Thank you. You are true angels, and I hope Tigger's adventures not only enrich his life, but also help to extend it. Good luck and much love to all three of you, and head skritches to Tigger!
Please tell Nicole if possible that it is of the utmost importance that Tiger eats. Even if that means forcefeeding him with a syringe. Cats with kidney failure completely loose apetite and usually die from malnutrition.
I never knew God love me to this extent. Brothers and Sisters this is my story. I have been married for over 6 years and I was unable to have a child, the doctor says I have issues with my womb, so I undergo several treatments, but none worked for me. I was about going for adoption. But Few years ago I meant with someone who introduced me to a herbal doctor, she said the herbal doctor helped her friend with herbal medicine and her friend could conceive and have a child, so she advised me to try the herbal way. This is a thing I have never thought of in my life because I have never used any herbal medicine since I was given birth to. But I decided to key in and try the herbal doctor remedy. So I contacted him, his name is Doctor Uwadia Amenifo and he prepared the herbs for me, and I started to take it. I took it for some time, and he advised me on time to have sex with my husband so I continue and was doing according to his direction. Behold to cut the story short I took in, and I conce
