2020 has been a hell of a journey. That much we know so far. But what if we rewind all the way back to 2015? Was the sun brighter, the grass greener, and the world calmer? That, my dear pandas, we may never truly know.

But Twitter user Charlie D. has realized that we can at least take a look at “how y’all was looking 5 years ago.” So people scrolled back through their image galleries and dug up some old but truly gold pics.

The "2015 vs 2020" thread went viral with 85.7K retweets and comments as well as 21.1K likes, and below, we have the most wholesome, nostalgic, emotional, and fun entries that show just how fast time flies when you think of it.

Time flies. It seems like 2015 was yesterday, but five years have gone by. And if you’re starting to feel all nostalgic and everything like I am, let’s take a look at some of the significant things that happened that year.

The year 2015 was a great year for space discoveries. NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) found that the Martian slopes have dark streaks. The scientists soon found out these were created by water flow. It also sparked an ongoing discussion on whether Mars could actually support life.

The same year, NASA’s Horizon spacecraft made its first fly-by of Pluto and took photos of both the planet and its largest moon. The images revealed that there are ice mountains and two new moons that weren’t known to us before.

Bored Panda reached out to the girl in the picture who goes by the Twitter handle @b_vega15 to find out more about her incredible transformation as seen in her 2015 vs 2020 image. B, who lives in Sacramento, told us that “In that first picture (2015) I weighed 252 lbs and I was happy to be at my very first Taylor Swift concert, alone.”

She said the past 5 years weren’t easy as she tried “losing weight multiple times, but something inevitably stalled the plan (death of a friend, depression, car accident, etc.)” It's only in 2019 that B got a gastric bypass, but assured us it “wasn’t easy to retrain your stomach and not knowing who you’re staring at in the mirror, working through insecurities you have.”

B wishes that she had been more kind to herself and “gotten out of my own way sooner.” She said that “Being your own worst critic truly is crippling.”

Five years ago, the landmark decision was made by the US Supreme Court which ruled 5-4 in favor of same-sex marriage nationwide. The then-president Barack Obama praised the decision that legalized same-sex marriage in all 50 states, saying it was a “victory for America.”

In the good news department, 2015 was marked by a decrease in extreme poverty worldwide for the first time ever. Extreme poverty is defined as living on less than $1.25 per day. According to The Age, the United Nations reported this year that the number of people below the poverty line had fallen from 1.75 billion in 1999 to 836 million.

It never is. Whether it's direct family or culture imposing it. If you think about it, it serves no use other than to hide parts of your body and the custom is not equal to men and women. The only reason people think that it can be ok to wear it, is because it does no physical harm. But it's what lies beneath. It segregates between cultures and is a physical proof of the inequality that is still very common in the whole world.

idk bout u but i am a muslim woman, and i do not think that a hijab is oppression, being forced to wear it is, but if the person just decided ok id want to wear it, then good for her, idk why ppl be connecting a hijab with oppression immediately smh

Kudos for breaking the shackles of regressive society. Hope other women also follow the suit. Raise your voice against oppression.

wearing a hijab is only bad if you felt pressured into it . . . I know some women prefer it, and some don't.

Some people just do not age at all. Look at Keanu. Same thing seems to be on those pictures

Looks like she gained confidence... The older photo her head is tilted downward and gives off a shy vibe... You definitely do not get that in the newer photo.

Bored Panda, is there anyway that you can remove Ms. Nicole Blomkamp? She has been making ridiculous and demeaning comments on quite a few of these beautiful peoples posts. She has also been upvoting a lot of other negative posts. https://www.boredpanda.com/author/nicoleblom/

Even though I do partially agree with Ms. Blomkamp down below, I don't think that is the way to say it. Yes, from these pictures it does not seem like she holds much self esteem, but saying it that way is NOT the way that yo help a person gain self esteem, the opposite in fact. Ms. Blomkamp, I suggest that if you don't have anything nice to say about a person that you do not know don't say anything at all.
