Avatar: The Last Airbender

Poster for Avatar: The Last Airbender show

2005 - 2005 | 3 seasons | 61 episodes

Avatar: The Last Airbender is an animated action-adventure fantasy series that ran on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008. Avatar's world is inspired by Asian cultures, and in this world, certain people have telekinetic powers allowing them to control one of four classical elements - water, fire, earth, and air. Then there's the Avatar - the chosen one who can control all of the four and whose mission is to keep a peaceful balance among the nations. This Avatar is Aang, and together with his friends, they set out on extraordinary adventures to restore said balance. The series is ingenious with the excitement it creates, the nice moral messages it gives, and, of course, the most loveable characters in the most unexpected situations. Some critics even named Avatar one of the best animated series ever, and we couldn't agree more!

This is a fantastic program. The humor, the animation, the storyline, the characters, the voice actors... you are going to fall in love with this program if you've never seen it before. (Except I can't watch the episode "appa's lost days" because it makes me cry)

    2001 - 2006 | 2 seasons | 28 episodes

Invader Zim follows one too-smart-for-his-own-good alien Earth invader Zim who came from the planet IRK. Pretending to be a child and with the help of his robot GIR, Zim's mission to take over the Earth seems very plausible up until the point a wrench named Dib interferes with his evil plans. Invader Zim has to be one of the wittiest shows ever created, and if you'd like a series that'll deliver one smart joke after another, this series might be your best choice.

"Ruled by another demon"? It's the future in which Aku rules - not some other demon. The wording here seems a bit misleading... Great show!

    Justice League

    2001 - 2004 | 2 seasons | 52 episodes

Justice League is the legendary formation of the seven most famous superheroes of probably all time - Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Hawkgirl, and Martian Manhunter. And with these legends standing against the forces of evil, destruction, and chaos, you can definitely sleep in peace tonight. Even though the seven are totally fictional and act as animated characters. Nevertheless, Justice League is a whole lotta fun without dumbing down the original comics, something we all love!

So, it's a sponge living under the sea in a pineapple, hanging out with a starfish, a crab, a pet snail, and a squirrel. And that's just to name a few odd characters from SpongeBob SquarePants, an animated series that became a real phenomenon throughout the years of its run. Created by the legendary animator and marine science educator Stephen Hillenburg, this series is full of imagination and the most unbelievable adventures experienced by the weirdest characters. It was, and still is, something completely different compared to all the rest of the animated series, mostly because of its originality that stems from an unexpected setting, ingenious characters, and the beautiful message underneath it all.

This is an amazing program. I do prefer the books, but "Redwall" and "Mattemeo: a tale of redwall" are incredible. The sound is rich, the voice actors are amazing (love Tim Curry as Slagar) the characters are engaging, the action is the perfect speed. Didn't love the animated version of "Martin The warrior" quite as much because the animation style was not the same, (it was a little sloppy.) Whether you've read Jaques' books or not, you'll love this series. Actually, the picture that they use here is from "Mattemeo"

The Weekenders follows four best friends - Tino, Tish, Carver, and Lor - as they try to make the most of the very short time they have off school each weekend. Usually, their plans of making the most of their time go hilariously awry, and each adventure turns into a happy little misadventure. And although the foursome of friends is from entirely different worlds, considering their hobbies and dislikes, they manage to form an unbreakable bond. The Weekenders is truly one of those feel-good series that'll entertain you and lift up your mood.

This was a good program also. Animation style is simple but crisp. The characters were fun, I wish I could have watched this more frequently but it was not easy for me to find in syndication. They had some great voice actors in this program, and the whole idea of having a foster home for used imaginary friends who are waiting to go to a new owner is pretty wild...

A very vanilla feeling animation with no swearing, nothing wild and crazy and wacky, almost realistically relatable, about a group of teenaged friends who all have jobs at the local mall. Nothing terribly thought provoking about the series but it was very watchable

Arthur was a great program! It ran for so many seasons I just couldn't believe it. I really preferred the hand-drawn animation style of the first 10 or so years, at some point it switched to a computer animation and the movement was very stiff... looked like a computer game... But I love how the characters evolved past how they were in the books because after all if your show is going to be running like over 20 seasons, then you'd better be able to do something with your character. And they all ended up with different personalities and medical / psychological disabilities which everyone was very accepting about. Like, food allergies, asthma, dyslexia, weak bladder, whatever. And I felt that was a really nice environment in Elwood City where they are all pretty accepting of each others differences. Big shift between the earlier episodes where there were bullies, and later episodes where they were accepting of each other
