Woman Starts ‘100 Days Without Fear’ Challenge To Live Her Life To The Fullest

Michelle Poler, an art director from Venezuela living in New York, has a LOT of fears. In her ‘100 Days Without Fear’ project, however, she has set out to conquer them all – and document her experiences in short videos.

“What really pushed me to pursue this project was not the controlled lifestyle I left behind, it is the frustration of not enjoying [NY] and life in general to the fullest,” Poler writes on her website. “Since the unknown has proven to be so much more fulfilling than the familiar in these last months, I’m ready to let go, face my biggest fears, try to be completely vulnerable about it and enjoy the ride.”

Her fears may seem big or small to you, but that’s not the point. Her videos will hopefully inspire others to face their own fears and see that, where fear is concerned, the grass just might be greener on the other side.

“I realized that fear was the only thing between me and my picture perfect lifestyle”

“That is the moment I decided to face one fear a day for 100 days”

I thought it would be actual scary stuff - like something to do with heights, speed or actual danger. This is just 100 days of not being so spoiled all the time.

this isn't about your fears, it's about hers! Don't judge someone based on your experience and lifestyle! You may be afraid of being alone with yourself or pursuing a dream and nobody's laughing at you!

Since it says she left a controlling lifestyle behind in Venezuela, it's really not that hard to imagine that things we take for granted and are not scared of, are new to her. Get a grip people, stop acting like a******s.

I guess it isn't really that these are her actual "fears", so much as that she had fears about living life and trying new things etc, so anxiety based fears. GETTING OUT there and actually DOING. I understand that well. Everyone "lives their life" differently; I love dying my hair, got my ears pierced years ago before my anxiety, but I have still missed a lot of (important and not so important) things during the majority of my twenties because of fears. I haven't even made the step she has right now, and if this method is helping her to do that even better! Many blessings sent her way, good going! Much love from an understanding stranger, xx.

Just because they aren't your fears doesn't mean other people aren't anxious or afraid to do them. Doesn't everyone freak out a little bit when they accidently leave their phone at home? I know I've never dyed my hair a crazy color, so yeah, I think this is a great thing to do!

that's a really cute and fun idea, but i gotta say, those are n real 'fears'. you can have fear of war, the dark, hurricanes, lost of loved ones, confrontation with people you have had a bad fight with...fear is something that makes you numb and leaves you incapable of acting. those things are just things you are too sissy or too lazy or comfortable to do. But I guess it can sometimes give you a small lift to achieve something small at first :)

Only because, your fears have no intersection with her fears, makes hers less valueable? Egocentric bricks! I can relate to some of them (Flying, Public Speaking, Fear of being alone with your thoughts (cell phone is just the idol of this fear in essence) and I think its great she is facing them. Also, to all those saying what these are no fears etc....in the public speaking vid she explains that many of her fears might be totally normal for others, but are a big ordeal for her. Frying food and dying your hair? Leaving your phone at home? C'mon, seriously, one cannot have compasion with these things. She's just a girl making videos of her making silly faces in different situations. Getting a piercing is not something that everyone has to do, brasilian wax also, that is the matter of personal tastes. Drinking and smoking fears? Who are you kidding? Brave is someone who fought cancer and survived, that is fear, not some random girl who drank beer and smoked pot. It is hypocritic to have compasion for every b******t posted on the internet.

The biking in NYC looks dangerous. When you face your fears and overcome them it's a great feeling. I overcame my fear of flying and speaking in front of a crowd (this started in Junior High) and feel good thinking about it. Everyone has their own fears, but then fear as a species kept us alive.

Most underwhelming Bored Panda article I've read so far. Kudos to Michelle for doing those things that she feared; hopefully others will get inspired by her. I personally know women who'd rather have damaged long hair than short healthy hair because they're afraid of change and well, a hair cut. But this article just didn't do it for me.

Those aren't scary things. Maybe things that may cause anxiety. But not fear. not any real phobias. If its something like handling reptiles or spiders, or going to the top of a really tall building. But dying your hair a natural colour? What's next, handling garbage with bare hands?

Coming from a different country that is controlling into our world is scary enough. So her doing these things are very scary to her and she is brave to concur them.

A better way to phrase it would not be about 'fear' but about 'living outside your comfort zone' and I think that is impressive. Although i was expecting spiders and snakes :P

Those aren't scary things. Maybe things that may cause anxiety. But not fear. not any real phobias. If its something like handling reptiles or spiders, or going to the top of a really tall building. But dying your hair a natural colour? What's next, handling garbage with bare hands?

Conquering the fear of donating bone marrow... maybe that is really scary. Skydiving... shaving your head... rafting in a wild river, petting a bull (not a sheep!!!), trying peyote, backpacking in Central América, drinking water in India...speak out your mind in Cuba... do you want to do some really scary sh-t?? go to a public hospital in Guatemala you pampered brat.

So a millennial does things that most people do on a regular basis? I thought I would be "Burried in a box" or "Spiders crawling all over me" not "Frying Food" ...Basic.
