We all like to start the new year with the not-so-humble brag that this year we are going to become the best version of ourselves, so it only made sense that the first internet viral thread of 2019 followed this theme. Unless you have been on a social media cleanse you have seen a #10YearChallenge then and now pictures post. The idea is simple, post side-by-side comparison photos of yourself from both years just to prove how strong your glow-up was.
Call it narcissistic if you want, but there is no denying that for some people out there, like a fine wine, they only got better with time. Some of them found very positive changes in discovering who they are; others went from ugly ducklings to full-on swans. First off I am a badass. And I’m a girl who WAS a boy. It’s kinda weird because I don’t feel sick or mentally ill. I feel like I can breath. Like I don’t have to pretend anymore. Like I shouldn’t have to deal with people who are mean just because I am who I feel comfortable as. And I also feel like most you here aren’t a psychologist and should shut the f**k up.

To the persons that keep spouting that being transgendered is a mental illness, they need to read psychiatric texts later than from the 1980s. The World Health Organization states that "the evidence is now clear that it is NOT a mental disorder" While transgendered people can suffer from other mental health issues, being transgendered in itself is not one. The American Psychological Association themselves state that the issue is up to debate. You don't get to decide for other people what they are. Stop assuming there's only XX or XY. Genetics tells us that there are many variations: xxy, xyy, xxxy, etc. And these variants can result in a wide range of life conditions, including dyslexia or the knowledge that you are physically one sex, but mentally/emotionally the other. Just because someone "Looks" male to you, doesn't make it the case.

Everyone who commented negatively on this post I'd just like to say--you're transphobic and an a*****e, and it's not up to you to decide how others identify. It makes me sad and disappointed how people have shamed this lovely lady. Those are the kind of comments that make transgender people like me and countless others afraid to say who they really are, for fear of rejection, shaming, and even violence. That kind of fear eats you away, and can cause depression, self-harm, and other emotionally damaging effects. No one should have to have such negative, hateful words directed at them for their identity, and it's really just awful that people still hang on to outdated, transphobic beliefs.

I want everyone to be happy but not at the expense of other group's of societies. Just seen a vid pop up on youtube of a trans man calling straight guys homophobic / transphobic because we don't want to date a man with a c**k and balls who is wearing a dress?, no we f*****g don't because we are straight and do NOT find male bodies and male genitalia attractive, how dare you call us homophobic because we won't change our sexual preference to suit your confused, enabled brain. You know the suicide rates for trans people is so much higher than other "discriminated" group's in society because it's a f****n mental illness, it's nothing to do with acceptance or society, gay people's suicide rates are so much lower for example, it's because your brains are broken and wearing a f****n dress is not going to solve that.

So now I ask, and once again, I am being honestly sincere, I am not trying to argue, or prove a " point" ; but would the view of " if you are born with a d**k, you are a man, period" view change for you? I really would like to hear your opinion, not to argue, but some body might have a point or view of something that I didn't realize/ think of/ know, etc. Like I mentioned, I used to lean towards the view of " nope",and I was wrong. Ok......rare, but it would happen, that a baby would be born with both male and female organs, both fully developed..( outside the body)and internally, some would have ovaries, some testes, sometimes both, but usually they would both be poorly developed. Then- there were cases of having Male " parts" on the outside, but ovaries internally( non functioning) or a vagina and internally, the male reproductive organs......so I wondered; what happens If they guess wrong? Cut off the wrong thing?! In these cases, the babies/ children must be put on hormones, either male or female hormones.

Oh wow I guess I’m even aging wrong. I look 10 yrs older not hotter. Wtf social media has everyone thinking 10 yrs u should be hotter? For the kids, that’s cool, but for grownass people wtf. It’s 10 yrs, life is hard! Sorry I got older and tired not hotter. I spent my time working and on education, not makeup tutorials,’plastic surgery and filters/photoshop lol 🙄

Why isn't someone allowed to be happy with themselves and how they look? They're not spreading any kind of negativity and you don't have to be happy for them, but let them enjoy their changes, whether that's weight loss or gain, getting fit, correcting their gender, getting through surgeries and such! It's not going to impact your life whatsoever if they're happy with themselves. Live and let live!

As JP says you wouldn't tell your Alzheimer's patient that yes the ghosts they see are real and it is illegal for anyone to tell you otherwise
