I’m Not Really A “Dog Person”, But This Big Red Dog Is Winning My Heart And Here’s Why

I thought I was a “dog person” when I married my husband over 14 years ago. Having both grown up with dogs, we planned on getting our own family dog one day; but our plans didn’t become a reality until last year when we added a large, male Mastiff/Golden Retriever to our already growing family of 5 daughters.

My husband insisted that Mastiffs are “gentle giants”. But I had forgotten the hair, the smell, and the drool that also comes along with owning a dog. I soon found myself wondering, “Am I really ‘dog person’?” But the more I see this “gentle giant” with my daughters, the more I can’t help but love him! As a photographer, I’ve created this series I call, “Our Big Red Dog”…

He checks the mail with us…
