Weaving Forest: Visitors Use Yarn To Cover Recyclable Reindeer Installation

“Weave own “nature” and plant a “forest” in our soul.” – “Weaving Forest” is an art installation consisting of 2 wooden reindeers and structures where visitors can use yarns to weave and making their own line-patterns on it. The wooden reindeers are made from recyclable woods. The process of making the wooden reindeers took 2 weeks to complete.

We are encouraging visitors to use the yarns to make their own line pattern and covering to the installation. Kids are the best audience making fun on weaving yarns on the reindeers. Parents are encouraging kids to express themselves and making yarns into art.

We are so happy to see how massively yarns are covering the installation and it did look like a “forest” at the end of the exhibition. The installation is not only an experiment of insight to our relationship with nature, but it is also paying respect and love for our nature. The art installation brings good reflection of our social responsibility for recycling and engaged an eco-consciousness to our daily life. The installation was exhibited at “Detour” Festival in Hong Kong.

I just think of all that yarn.... I wonder if production of it was nature-friendly, I really hope so. And I also hope all the sheep what gave that wool lives in good conditions. Maybe next time they could use uncoloured yarn, or hamp.
