For several years now, French photographer Réhahn has been traveling across Vietnam and taking beautiful photos. Along the way, his adventures have led to important meetings that have become the main theme of his travel photography projects.
When a friendship has been established between the two of them, then and only then does he gets his camera out in order to capture the moment. In his stunning pictures, smiles are often shyly hidden by their hands. Réhahn calls them his “Hidden Smiles”. During his travels, he’s noticed that many Vietnamese people often have the habit of covering their mouths when facing the camera. He assumes that this is by modesty or politeness, a sort of mark of elegance.
Réhahn continues his street photography journey around the land of smiles. He is currently preparing an exhibition of a hundred interesting photos of those hidden smiles. The Vietnamese were ranked among the happiest people in the world and Réhahn is here to testify to this truth, for he has managed to find the meaning of the word “happiness” in this country.

Share on FacebookI think they're all beautiful but the first is my favorite & the blue hand one makes me curious about her!
The woman is Red Dao, from Sapa area. The hand is blue from working with indigo, a plant they grow and make into the blue dye for cloth.
