For example, when worn on three fingers, one set of rings appear to be a squirrel after an acorn.

Rings have been given and received for about 6000 years. The finger on which a ring is worn often has some significance. In many Western cultures an engagement ring is worn on the a hand’s fourth digit, and is then transferred to the other hand after marriage.
