Dad And 8-Year-Old Son Create Punny Food Maps For US States

Together with his 8-year-old son, Chris Durso, the creator of foodiggity.com, is working to create a wonderful list of food puns for every state in the Union. The Foodnited States Of America is a delicious country filled with appetizing states like Kaleifornia, Swissconsin and New Jerky.

Durso says the idea was his son’s – “with an idea set forth by an eight year-old, and contributions from Dad and others, we give you The Foodnited States of America.“

“Each Foodnited State is absolutely real, created by hand with either the help of a State-shaped cookie cutter and/or X-acto blade, shot with my iPhone 5s,” Chris Durso told Bored Panda.

“The hardest part is working with some of the foods, because I do use real ingredients. Gorgonzola cheese is no fun to work with on a hot summer day”

“My favorite part is being able to share this experience with my son. I also love people’s response to when we do their home State, or their anticipation if we haven’t done their’s yet”

“Cameron [Durso’s son] is loving it. He calls himself famous now, and he’s actually doing a show-and-tell of the project at school this week”

“Some Photoshop work has been used for a few States for touch-ups around the edges, and Photoshop and Instagram for color-corrects and some enhancement”

“No plans for anything past the 50 US States for now. But I do plan on creating a complete map of The Foodnited States, and to make the States available in print form. This will probably include small posters, postcards, and coasters”
