What's wrong about this birth? The baby just passes from one liquid means (amniotic fluid) to another. There's nothing wrong about it. Actually, I think it's even more comfortable for the baby, it's just not so brusque. This kinds of birth in general tend to last less time, one cousin of mine had her two babies in 30 - 40 minutes, no more, within a pool. And about the baby being blue... my sister looked the same when she was born and this was into a hospital. It is normal for them to be cold when they come to the world xD

It has actually proven to be less stressful on the baby since he/she comes into a similar environment instead of a bright, cold room as hospital rooms very often are. You can even move the baby around in the water since it won't take its first breath until it has been taken out. The only bad thing about water birth is that it may take longer as water can sometimes slow down contractions.

Baby is healthy and perfect, it's totally normal for them to come out like this!!

Most babies, when they first come out, are blue or purple.

The baby isn't blue, it's covered in what's called Vernix or Vernix Caseosa which is a whitish or pale grayish waxy film. I think it depends on the mother giving birth to determine how they are most at ease giving birth. Some women would not be comfortable with this and some would have it no other way,

Babies are blue at delivery, but I do agree, nothing natural about a water birth. They have the same or only a small increase in the need for medical care after birth, but water birth babies spend more time in the hospital than land babies. The diagnosis used in my NICU is "Near drowning experience"

It is normal. Water soothes body. If you ever gave birth you'll know that pain is unimaginable. Both of my babies were blue. Its because they came from vaginal delivery and that is perfectly normal.

We are not FISH.

A lot of babies born in the water end up in the hospital anyway. I have seen many deliveries, babies are not supposed to be this blue. I don't get why this is even legal "practice," they come in to the unit and present with fluid aspiration and stay longer.
