I Illustrate Sailor Moon Characters Living In XIX Century Paris
I am a freelance artist and I always loved Sailor Moon. As a kid I used to watch it on TV and it made a huge impact on me. Teenage girls were actually kicking monsters and still be whatever they want to be, either a tomboy, an elegant princess, a hard working student, a delicate princess or simply a school girl looking for love.
It was so great to relate to so many different female characters. Two years ago I decided to draw sailor moon characters but if they were living in Paris, during 1900. I am French and I wanted to picture them not in an anime style, but close to my birth culture.
It’s a way to combine my love for Alphonse Mucha paintings, art nouveau, XIX century, Paris and strong female characters.
I love to think about how they would fight evil with the difficulties of high society life and in the same time trying to keep their secret identities.
