Romantic surprises help couples keep the spark burning but some of them act out better in our heads than in reality. Illustrator Jacob Andrews (previously here) has created 5 hilarious comics that perfectly sum up these passionate endeavors.
His series “Being Romantic: Expectation vs Reality” explores a couple, struggling to create tender, movie scene-worthy moments both privately and among other people. It’s worth mentioning, however, that often the success or failure of your attempt to create something special isn’t determined by the outcome, but rather by the way you perceive it. And there’s no better person to transform the mundane into the magic than your significant other.

I prefer reality: there is nothing that strengthens a relationship as much as laughing together about mishaps! (By the way: the agony induced by rose petals is easily dwarved by the one originating from aluminium-based mini hearts...hundreds of them. Stick to everything due to static electricity.)
Me too! The reality thing that is. Just being able to be yourself is so nice. Everytime I hear someone whose been in a relationship of a couple of years say they had to step out of the room to fart I go... seriously? How can you live like that?
Load More Replies...My only thought about those rose petals one, even without the "reality" picture, is: who's gonna do the cleaning?!
