Located near Lijiang, in Yunnan province.

The stairway to heaven has its ups and downs.

Those are Cormorant birds used to swoop into the water to catch the fish. They have metal rings around their gullet to prevent them from swallowing their catch. Cormorant fishing is a night time activity and the boats are far less picturesque. This is a posed photo. Inaccurate, but beautiful.
