Russian artists Anastasiya and Sergey Lutsenko create dolls so realistic, they look like smaller versions of real people. And they kinda are. “We draw our inspiration from everyday life,” the duo said. “It is always interesting to watch people and find some character types that stand out from the crowd.” They started making dolls in 2011 but have never repeated the same design twice: “Each doll has its own history and is one of a kind. It is fundamentally important for us to use decorative elements [and carving] that are unique for each doll.” Both Anastasiya and Sergey have classical art diplomas and are qualified painters but soon moved to graphic design and eventually found themselves making dolls: “Modern artists must be well-rounded.”
